Rihanna graced the red carpet for DKMS’ 5th Annual Gala at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Thursday.
The singer was presented with an award in recognition of her commitment in helping leukaemia sufferers fine bone marrow donors.
She looked elegant wearing a tiered Dsquared² Fall 2011 black gown with lace panels and long train.
I much prefer how her gown has a smoothed out tier compared to the runway’s puffy tier.
Her hair and make-up were flawless as usually.
I love it when Rihanna channels a sophisticated look.
RiRi opted for a fun look at the photocall for her Reb’l Fleur Fragrance Launch at Macy’s Herald Square yesterday.
Her playful Mandalay ivory polka dot chiffon dress with lace details was accented with a black ribbon and accessorized with nude pumps.
Both looks were appropriate for each occasion.

Only one word: GORGEOUS!
This girl looks 100 times beter when she cleans her act up like this. I like both of these dresses on her. Especially the longer, teired one. The updo is beautiful on her as well. I just wish she would lose the kool-aid hair color already. It’s too severe not mention tacky.
She looks stunning in that black gown!
I don’t like the hair but everything else is perfection. Tattoos and all
I agree w/ Mattt
I don’t like her hair it is too bright. But i agree w/ everyone else she looks way better when she cleans up and covers up. Wow! she has a lot of contouring around her nose every time i see her in pics her nose is getting smaller and smaller.
She seems to be coming into her own fashionwise. It’s a shame about the tattoos, though. They’re not bad. But from afar they are indistinguishable from a trail of mud spots down her neck.
Just took a closer look at the earrings she wore with the black dress – love them!
I warmed up to the red but that is one obvious and badly sewed-in weave :/
That aside, she looks gorgeous in that black gown. The make up is lovely.
i love both looks but the black one is so stunning!
I don’t like either looks.
I love this site, and no disrespect, but is it just me being dumb or did you not even say who the designers for both looks were? If that’s the case, IMO seems kind of pointless for a post, as we will already be seeing these pictures in tabloids, newspapers and magazines
Anyone who starts a comment saying no disrespect often has that very intention.
In answer to your question, yes, because I name checked the designer.
Whether I name check the designer or not it doesn’t matter because readers still want to see the look.
I’m glad you included the pictures eventhough the designer’s who made the dress are not mentioned. at the moment as soon as you find out you will update the post. I don’t buy tabloids or newspapers and the magazines I buy are monthly and I don’t want to wait that long to see what people are wearing to events. That’s why I come on here everyday you cover events that sometimes the press in the UK do not cover so a big thank you from me
Thank u.
I’m glad you notice that I always update.
Yes, and in addition I come here to read what F.C. has to say about the various looks and also, for the reader’s reaction – it’s an enjoyable learning about fashion part for me…
@fiona – maybe you will see the pictures in the tabloids etc, but in saying “we” you most certainly do not speak for me.
Sometimes, this blog is the only place I see certain pictures. Even if I did see picture elsewhere and even if the designer name is never mentioned, I come here to get FC’s opinion as well as read the comments. Even when I disagree with FC, I respect her opinion and her right to do what she wants with her blog.
So even though in your opinion the post might be pointless, IMO the post would not be.
Loved both looks. I love her hair yes it bright but not too bright for her skin tone. OMG I love the picture with her and Pharrell I love him!
Why didnt Rihanna make BDOTW?
She is such a pretty girl, and the black dress is just stunning on her. I have come to love the color of her hair, but the hair itself is starting to look a little shopworn, isn’t it?
A note about the blog: I get upset when you are criticized, FC, because it’s so obvious that you try very hard to be fair and accurate. Anyone who reads you daily knows that omissions will be filled in when you have them and mistakes will be corrected as soon as you are aware of them. I think you do a terrific job and anyone who finds fault with you ought to give it a try themselves.
Thank you Sharon.
It’s not as easy as people assume
xxx
I’m officially in love with her
OMG OMG YAAA
YYYYY I LOVE HER HAIR FINALLY!!!!!!!!
If anything, it should be Fleur Reb’l. Guess she didn’t bother checking French grammar and just assumed it is the same as English!
Just stunning. I especially love her makeup and earrings in the first shot. Classy but not boring – full marks from me.
I love both of these looks. I’m usually not a big fan of how she dresses at all, so it was lovely to see her doing classy and elegant for a change. The updo is lovely and I really like the chiffon polka dot dress on her.
this chick is flawless!! and btw, this is one of the best fashion blogs on the web! its my 1st stop to see who’s wearing what and get FC’s take on the look.
Thank u….a huge honour
I just don’t like the dresses. Not my style, but she looks good in them.
DARLING…the black gown comes from Dsquared2 Fall Winter 2011\12 Collection, it is not Louis Vuitton!
thank you
the second dress is from zuhair murad
I know the dress you are referring too, but that dress is grey and this dress is white with polka dots.
Mandalay is Notorious for copying runway looks, which is why it is so surprising that celebrities wear this label.
