Thandie Newton wore this sophisticated Vivienne Westwood Red Label Spring 2011 tailored grey suit whilst out promoting her movie “For Colored Girls” back in October last year.
Managing to score the outfit just weeks after it walked the runway at London Fashion Week, Thandie looks impossibly chic, adding red studded Stella McCartney heels and a brown suede Miu Miu tote.
Her makeup is flawless and she is simply glowing. I love how the suit fits her so perfectly and that her accessories add some oomph to the grey.
Robin Wright recently wore the same suit to the Washington DC Premiere of her movie “The Conspirator” and what a contrast.
The jacket is very ill-fitting and the pants don’t seem to taper as well on her as they did on Thandie. Paired with nothing but basic black pointed heels, Robin’s look is extremely lack-lustre. I also find the outfit to be a bit of an odd choice for a red carpet premiere.
For me, there’s no question about who the winner is here. Thandie gets it spot on with a better fit, fresh makeup, a chic hairdo and eye-catching accessories. Robin, on the other hand, failed to hit the mark. It’s extremely hard to see past such a poor fit and it doesn’t help that she made zero attempts to jazz up her look with great accessories.

Thandie Newton owned it. It looks nice on the model also but unfortunately, the outfit is wearing Robin Wright to the prom on that red carpet. It looks very ill-fitted on her.
Vivienne Westwood seems to have a bad rep round here from the comments.
Her clothes always seem to work best when whoevers wearing them doesnt try too hard and quite careless about it but celebs are suppoed to look glamorous and put together on the red carpet so her clothes really dont seem to translate well.
Yes. like many other times the accesories make clear who the winner is.
Robin has a great body, but that’s about it. I don’t find her chic or seductive or feminine or punk. She looks like someone who does hard labor for a living or a factory worker from movies like Silkwood or Norma Rae. Thandie wins easily.
Norma Rae and Karen Silkwood had a billion more sparks and presence than Robin will ever have. That’s her real problem, the lack of any kind of presence and not “looking like someone who does hard labor for a living” – which is kind of offensive for the women out there who do hard labor for a living or are factory workers and still can look more put together than Robin.
