Dear Blake,
My obsession with you has made many readers question my integrity. They have accused me of being biased because I love everything that you wear.
For a while that was true because you lived by the moto ‘if you’ve got it flaunt,’ which my mother drummed into me from a very early age.
But lately something has been off.
Whilst I’ve liked your looks, I haven’t been blown away.
Case in point.
Here you are at looking beautiful at the 2nd dinner party Chanel has hosted for you…this time in Paris.
Whilst this Chanel Spring 2008 Couture silver dress with a tiered skirt is beautiful, you couldn’t have picked a worst pair of shoes if you’d borrowed them from Paris Hilton.
These Christian Louboutin Salsbourg metallic strappy sandals are not working.
If you had a stylist he/she would’ve – I hope – advised against you wearing these heels.
I don’t know what possessed you.
Surely the guys at Chanel could’ve given you some heels which were more befitting of your Chanel Couture dress.
But considering they gave you a black Chanel ‘Mademoiselle’ bag to go with your silver and white Couture dress against a black background, I guess the answer was clearly no.
Let’s bring back the Versace-eqse sexiness.
Whilst it may have been really obvious, it worked for you.

Such an off look and the worst part is that Blake seems to love the way she looks here. She seriously needs to update the designers she alternate between, it’s getting boring. I mean Versace, Chanel, Marchesa, Christian Louboutin shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry is just a teent tiny percentage of what is out there in the fashion industry.
When Chloe Sevigny and Leighton wore these shoes they actually worked with their respective looks.
Couldn’t have said it any better. Not only is she everywhere these days, but she wears the same designers all the time. The girl has become overkill.

The shoes are nice, but they’re navy, gold and white. No idea why she paired them with her silver and white dress.
The shoes are awesome, just not with the dress. My eyes are drawn to the bright white of shoes right away and I have to pry them away to look at the rest of the dress.

I think she’s maybe just on a road towards being chic. She’s not there yet – the shoes are total dreckitude with this outfit – but she’s on her way.

I agree, her shoe choice was not the best but I do love that she at least strays from the black pumps so many celebrities are attached too. I’m still surprised she hasn’t worn her own Blake shoe yet!

Oh I am so glad you agree. I always feel like I have a personal issue with Blake, a really unreasonable one, but this outfit puts why I can never get on bored with her to practice. She cannot self style. She has good taste, and a good body, not good styling. All three main components are stunnign by themselves, although the white colour of the louboutin’s could’ve been reconsidered, but together they are awful. The runway flats would’ve been a great improvement, they would have made her endearing at the very minimum, and many mroe pairs of shoes would have been much better than them so it begs the question for the louboutins, no?
What I wish sh’ed done is go classic chanel, not sexy, based the outfit around the bag not her body, gotten a new makeup artist, not had a hideous bothced fake tan on her upper half, and gotten a ring that went all the way up her finger. SO many looks from chanel ss 2011 would have been divine for this bag.
What si really shockingly sad is that this is the first time, possibly ever, her hair has looked like it doesn’t need a wash/comb/brush, and only needs a root touch up.
elisa sednaoui wore the same shoes but in black to the same dinner, were they giving them out at the door or sth?!
I usually don’t have an issue with your love of Blake because I like some of what she wears to. But I gotta say I don’t think she’s a good fit for Chanel. I see her as more of a Versace girl, though January Jones is already their ‘it’ girl. But I just don’t think she really fits the “Chanel woman” all that well. Sure, she can wear cute outfits from them, but I just think there’s a better fit for her and for Chanel.
Gotta say I’m not feeling the dress or the shoes.

totally agree too. MY vision of a Chanel girl is completely diferent from what Blake is. I like her a lot as a person, she’s always funny and receptive, but don’t think she is a perfection is a fashion icon, even more as a Chanel girl
Oh man these shoes are a letdown because this dress is amazing. Shucks.
I know. The dress her been catalogued in my mind since the day of teh show when I first saw it on style.com. This dress will always be sasha’s in my mind.
The dress is nice and a good fit for blake and the white part of the shoes was fine but the gold ankle wrap and clutch are offensive.
The dress reminds me somewhat of an ice-skater outfit, but even with all my hatred towards black pumps, I would take them over these horrible shoes.
Bottom Line: Blake needs a stylist! This dress is gorgeous, but those shoes totally ruin it for me. The shoes aren’t terrible on their own, but Rachel Zoe would have told her that they don’t belong with such a beautiful Chanel dress.
Okay, the first thing I thought when I saw this was “Judy Jetson” and then I looked at those shoes and thought… no. Judy would never do that. And then your commentary on it.

I agree, lately her looks have been really disappointing. The shoes are terrible. She needs to take some notes from Leighton who has the best shoe collection Ive seen on someone in a while. Unlike Blake, Leighton knows how to pick the fiercest shoes to compliment her outfit….
Ms Lively does not possess that “je ne sais quoi” of naturally stylish women. Even with access to clothes, shoes and accessories from the top fashion houses she often lacks something. Perhaps more maturity will help, but she is not a fashion natural.
I agree – at present, she is a living illustration of the difference between fashion and style. Being young and beautiful has ensured access to one, but not the other.

I actually prefer these types of looks on Blake rather than the boob/leg looks. These dresses are much more interesting and she can rock them. I may be alone, but I really like the shoes with the dress. They aren’t the expected shoe. They’re not a basic pump, peep toe or strappy sandal. I think the colours work well and they’re fun. They aren’t safe and I appreciate that.

I just wanted to add that I LOVED the coat she wore over this outfit. I’m a big fan of the military style coats.

OK, I agree she’s not a Chanel woman, I was quite surprise when I knew that she was going to be one of the brand ambassador. Said that, the dress is incredibly cute but those shoes are so ugly. I mean, they’re not ugly for this dress, they’re ugly. I also don’t like a the black bag, couldn’t they choose another color? FC, I don’t understand your love for her, it doesn’t bother me, anyway, but maybe sometimes you’re not impartial, even if I think that sometimes it’s not what but who wears something.
This outfit is just another example of why Blake was not the right fit for Chanel. The dress simply looks better on the runway – and that was my impression before I even saw the shoes. A stunning Chanel dress that simply looks meh on Blake. Just like the white Chanel dress, she wore previously.
While the shoes bother me, I absolutely hate how she managed to slut up the dress.

oh, the days when Karl’s blonde obsession was Claudia Schiffer… another voluptuous blonde, who kind of ripped off Brigitte Bardot, but I think Claudia did have IT, not just the model “look”, but also that “je ne sais quoi”nmentioned above.
I do agree with the notion that Blake is being used for commercial purposes to access the Gossip girl generation, but she really is not the best wearer nor representer of the classiness of Chanel (I’m no expert, but looking at the easiness of Keira, Diane, hey Nicole Kidman in her time… many ads have become iconic, I do remember the Vanessa Paradis caged bird a lot… but Blake does not strike me as much,no, not iconic.

What did she do? That dress was so sweet and had a touch of whimsy on the runway but it looks so blah and almost like a knock off on her? I don’t get it.
My issue with Blake is her lack of looking genuinely stylish and chic. Sure she looks pretty and wears lovely dresses. But in a very Barbie/typical pretty girl kind of way. There’s no drama,there’s no hint of high fashion. She just always looks like a California,sun kissed girl in a nice dress. Boring,boring,boring.
i think my problem with it is, although it is chanel, she doesn’t seem to have dressed for the occasion – especially when you look at Florence Welch she just seems so casual. She’s a beautiful girl but this just bores me.
