Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Most Improved Award
After being universally classed as frumpy at the 2011 Golden Globes Awards Michelle Williams redeems herself at the 2011 Oscars tonight.

Her Chanel Spring 2011 Couture fully beaded gown has been modified from the runway to have a slinkier silhouette, which I’m sure you’ll all agree is a huge improvement.

It wasn’t just the dress I loved, but the whole package.

The hair and make-up were also vastly improved from the Globes.

She took that criticism and turn it into perfection.

L’Wren Scott Isn’t Just For Nicole Kidman Award
On Nicole Kidman’s Oscar post, some of you have said, “At least she’s not wearing L’Wren Scott”.

Well Amy Adams is going to make you eat your words because I think she looked outstanding on the red carpet at the 2011 Oscars tonight wearing a dress from L’Wren Scott’s recent Fall 2011 collection.

The purple caviar-bead embroidered dress was worn with emerald and silver Cartier jewels.

I think I prefer the darker coloured accessories as presented on the runway.

Salvatore Ferragamo black satin shoes and Hollywood waves completed her look.

Minimalist Again Award
Gwyneth Paltrow opted for yet another minimalist look on the red carpet at the 2011 Oscars.

She always seems to do the minimalist thing on big occasions like this. It’s almost like she’s trying to prevent another pink puffy dress disaster. Well too late it happened in 1999.

I do love her super sleek silver metallic Calvin Klein dress, especially with the Louis Vuitton brooch on her hip.

I’m not too crazy about the silhouette. I wish it was nipped in just a bit around the waist as Gwynie has an amazing figure.

Louis Vuitton high jewelry and Brian Atwood gold ankle strap ‘Martina’ pumps completed her look.

My honest immediate reaction to Nicole Kidman’s Christian Dior Spring 2009 Couture gown at the 2011 Oscars was dislike.

After looking at her white bustier column gown with silver embroidered details a few more times, I think it’s growing on me.

I don’t love it, but there is something about it that’s keeping me interested.

Had this gown been in a deep purple colour like Natalie Portman’s gown I think I would’ve been persuaded to love it.

I think the major problem is that Nicole isn’t really selling the look.

The Australian actress continues to have a love affair with Pierre Hardy heels. On this occasion she opted for a coral peep-toe sandal.

Most Consistent Award
Natalie Portman arrived very late on the red carpet tonight at the 2011 Oscars.

She was the last ones to arrive, no doubt to avoid any Dior/Galliano related questions.

The radiant mother-to-be wore a custom Rodarte gown.

Her purple off-the-shoulder gown is lightly embellished on the bodice which matches her dazzling fringed earrings.

The matchy matchy-ness of her look continues to her Jimmy Choo ‘Macy’ satin sandals.

We had high hopes for Natalie this awards season given the extra pressures of dressing her baby bump.

She surpassed my expectations, how about yours?

Too Much Bling Award
Jennifer Hudson looked gorgeous on the red carpet at the 2011 Oscars tonight.

She just gets better and better.

The actress/singer opted for a tangerine Atelier Versace Spring 2008 gown.

Her plunging halter gown had a dramatic structured detail on the hip and a dramatic train which glided behind her as she worked the red carpet.

I think she overloaded her look with too many jewels, but other than that this is a great look for her.

Purple Versace platform heels completed the look.
