Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: February 2011

The Michael Kors Fall 2011 presentation was a celebration of his 30th anniversary in the fashion business.

He celebrated his milestone by presenting a sleek collection of wearable glamour reminiscent of the 70s but with an updated minimalism.

I loved the disco soundtrack which played in the background as the models took to the runway. I was especially singing along to Odyssey’s “Native New Yorker.”

We saw sexy jersey dresses, sequins, silk, fur, perfectly tailored pant suits, timeless luxe wool coats and jumpsuits.

The luxurious collection had touches of shimmer via the crystal embellished on a few of the looks.

Classic pieces were amped up with dramatically deep cuts and thigh-high slits.

Key accessories included silver collar chokers and platinum sandals.

Front Row: Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta Jones, Anjelica Huston, Debra Messing, Bette Midler and Angie Harmon

Favourites: Cashmere jumpsuit paired with a wool coat and nude bodysuit, flannel pants and jacket

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Kate Hudson, Debra Messing, Catherine Zeta Jones, Paz Vega, Penelope Cruz, Angie Harmon, Mary J Blige, Tilda Swinton, Diane Lane and Jane Fonda

Before the show I was sent the new flip slide camera which is branded Michael Kors. That wasn’t the only gift because at the show we all received a pair of Michael Kors sunglasses.

There were some stars like Kate Hudson who opted to skip the red carpet at the 2011 Grammy Awards.

It’s such a huge shame because I would’ve loved to have seen this stunning Roberto Cavalli Fall 2004 gown on the red carpet.

From the looks of this gown Kate is not going to let her second pregnancy stop her from showing off her sexy back.

The navy satin dress with gold python straps was paired with a python clutch.

I dragged my tired self to the 9am show for Yigal Azrouël’s Fall 2011 presentation. It was well worth it.

The energetic vibrant collection was just the Cup of Joe I needed to wake me from my fashion week fatigue.

The menswear inspired collection celebrated the strength and power of artistic femininity.

We saw many outerwear pieces in this collection. I especially loved mandarin orange opera coat paired with a grey pullover and ivory cropped pants.

We saw very well tailored looks, oversized knit tails, coats rested on shoulders, starched white shirts, cropped cigarette pants and a few gowns on a colour palette of salmon pink, jade green, mandarin orange, grey, ivory and black.

Key accessories included black bow-ties, gold ties, headbands, leather and suede wedge ankle boots plus skinny belts.

Front Row: Vanessa Hudgens

Favourites: Check shearling vest, jade Swarovski crystal encrusted blouse paired with salmon pants and salmon dress with tux shirt and gold tie

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Chloe Sevigney, Alexa Chung, Kate Bosworth, Ginnifer Goodwin, Liv Tyler and Thandie Newton.

Emma Watson attended the Soho House Grey Goose After Party for the 2011 BATFA Awards earlier this week.

She swapped her Valentino Spring 2011 gown for this Valentino Couture Spring 2011 dress.

I much prefer this look on her as it feels like it’s more suited to her sense of style.

The adorable sleeveless ruffle dress was paired with a Valentino silver clutch and gold Valentino heels.

I’m really glad she kept this look pure and didn’t add any jewels.

Running around at Fashion Week is not easy, but there is always one show that will put a smile on my face and that’s Tibi.

Amy Smilovic designs for the girlie girl I wished I could be. She was inspired by the sleek and modern simplicity of the 90s, as she presented her interpretation of American classics in a sophisticated, fresh, young way.

Her Fall 2011 collection was easy chic and luxurious without the high price point.

Everyone can pick a look from collection whether it’s cute bright pink beanie hats, shift dresses, embellished dresses, shearling coats, menswear blazers, tapered pants, minis, maxis, daywear and cocktail dress; Tibi has something for every woman.

In the picture above you will see that Look 30 is carrying her shoes.

During the show one of her heels comes off. She very gracefully took her time to take off her other shoe and continued to walk the runway sans shoes.

I couldn’t get over how calm she was. I would’ve been a mess or I would’ve hobbled down the runway with one shoe.

The stand out look were those with the rococo style prints

Key accessories include neon pink hats and lace-up heels.

Front Row: Vanessa Hudgens, Catt Sadler, Tinsley Mortimer, Louise Roe, and Olivia Palermo

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Brittany Snow, Olivia Palermo, Emma Roberts, Sophia Bush, Whitney Port, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez and Miranda Cosgrove

Dianna Agron was on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” this week to promote her new movie, “I Am Number Four” and she also talked about her experiences at the 2011 Grammy Awards.

The Glee actress looked adorable as ever wearing a Erdem floral silk dress from the Spring 2011 collection.

Dianna has flirted with an edgier darker look at recent events, so I’m glad she’s moved back to look which I think better suits her style.

Tan strappy sandals completed her look.
