Red Carpet Fashion Awards

The Sanremo Festival 2011 continued last night in Italy with host Elisabetta Canalis wearing 3 Roberto Cavalli gowns.

The gorgeous gowns were especially created for her the designer and they were a lot less revealing than the looks she had worn the previous night.

The first was a gorgeous peachy nude flamenco-style gown with a rise and fall tiered ruffled skirt with she paired with embellished sandals for a touch of sparkle.

I wish she’s opted for an updo with this look.

Her second gown was a taupe halter gown with a flowing train, keyhole detail and light embellished details on the bodice.

Elisabetta’s final look was a fully sequined Bordeaux long sleeve dress.

The sleeves have fewer sequins than the body of the dress which makes it look like the sleeves are lighter shade of Bordeaux.

From this collection I can’t pick a favourite from 1 and 3.

I will never know how but Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig seem to top themselves every season.

Their Marchesa Fall 2011 presentation was every more beautiful than I had imagined. I wouldn’t be surprised if stylists were placing their Oscar selections immediately to secure the best looks.

Every piece had a quiet dramatic quality to it.

We saw lots of tulle, embellishment, mermaid hems, gothic romance and some looks could easily translate to bridal gowns.

If I had to pick one favourite look it’s the dress above. It’s such a shame that the shimmering embroidered details aren’t captured in a photo as it left me breathless.

Key accessories included Christian Louboutin heels paired with lace socks, Miriam Haskell custom accessories and Marchesa signature handbags.

Celeb attendees: Vanessa Hudgens, Eve, Michelle Trachtenberg, Olivia Palermo, Petra Nemcova, Irina Lazareanu and Tinsley Mortimer

Favourites: The embroidered gown with a tulle hem above and black sheer gown with white embroidery

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Kerry Washington, Camilla Belle, Diane Kruger, Olivia Wilde, Heidi Klum…the list is endless

Alexa Chung had a second look at the 2011 Elle Style Awards which was held in London this week.

After her YSL red carpet look she changed into a Valentino Pre-Fall 2011 dress.

Her black polka dot dress with a white collar and cuffs looks like a chic nun’s habit.

I like the cute bow at the waist, but the gold necklace is distracting.

Black YSL pumps and a black clutch completed her look.

The 3.1 Phillip Lim presentation was another designer I had added to my New York Fashion Week schedule for the first time.

In describing this collection the designer said, “It’s about these chic women who ride bikes to work, to brunch, to a cocktail party.”

I don’t ride a bike but many pieces shot to the top of my wish list, as the designer showcased beautiful cropped pants, a wool anorak with black fur patch pockets and leather sleeves, a wool kimono sleeve jacket, a black jumpsuit with long beaded gold sleeves, colour-block pants and the final look was a sapphire maxi conical gown.

This menswear inspired collection consisted of oversized loose fitting easy wearable pieces. The outerwear really stood out with a mix of coats, anoraks and baseball jackets.

Key accessories included leather mules, scoop-front booties, cap-toe heels, oversize, square shades, briefcase-style bags and clutches.

Emma Watson was spotted arriving back at her hotel after attending Harvey Weinstein’s Pre-BAFTA Party at Almada Club in Mayfair last week.

She was rocking a beige Burberry trench coat with contrasting leather sleeves from their new Spring 2011 range which would retail at approx £1,795/$2,795.

The classic coat with an edge had been recreated by Topshop at a fraction of the price.

Check out Topshop US and Topshop International for a more affordable option.

Apart from the price the other difference is that Emma’s Burberry version has a leather collar as well as leather sleeves.

Oscar de la Renta’s Fall 2011 presentation showcased an elegant Russian and Oriental inspired collection.

It was dramatic and full of luxurious offerings of both textures and colours. The palette consisted of burgundy, blue, emerald green, taupe, black, white and grey.

We saw a lot of fur on hats, hoods, vests and trims on coats.

Classic Oscar cocktail dresses, ladies who lunch dresses, tweed jackets, and gorgeous gowns were also presented.

I loved how the theme would change from nomadic chic to Park Avenue princess at a moment’s notice.

The presentation ended with a finale of stunning gowns which were mostly fitted excluding the silk chiffon ball gown worn by Lindsey Wixson above.

The gowns either had glimmering details or punchy prints.

I was pleasantly surprised by this collection. It wasn’t at all what I expected, but I think that made me love it even more.
