Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: February 2011

By total coincidence Kate Bosworth and Monica wore the same Burberry Prorsum cropped leather jacket on the same day.

Kate technically wore it first as she was in London for the Burberry Prorsum Fall 2011 presentation.

She paired her jacket with a studded and spiked skirt and quilted booties from Burberry.

Monica wore her jacket to the 1st Annual Cartoon Network’s “Hall Of Game” Awards in Santa Monica, California.

Her look was more casual. She wore denim leggings, a simple white top, snake skin Christian Louboutin ‘Lady Daf’ triple stacked platform heels and an Alexander McQueen scarf.

Both girls totally rocked this look, but I’m going to give this win to Monica for her effortless approach to putting together this look.

Claire Danes attended the 13th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards in Beverly Hills on Tuesday night.

The usually mminimalist star opted for a Lanvin Spring 2011 embellished sleeveless dress.

She paired her grey dress with a silver Lanvin cuff, a tan belt and nude Jimmy Choo peep-toes.

I wish she’d worn a pair of heels with a bit more attitude like the ones on the runway.

The only downside to this look is that her slicked back her hair makes it look like she’s sporting a mullet.

My Milan Fashion Week adventure started with a bang at Gucci.

Frida Giannini presented a Gucci Fall 2011collection of luxe 70s inspired glam looks.

My eyes were set alight with gorgeous jewel toned turquoise, fuchsia, cerulean blue, sapphire, emerald, magenta and purple.

Nearly all of the looks were accented with fur and we also saw a lot of bow neck ties.

Culottes, masculine jackets, wide leg pants, fox collard jackets, chiffon blouses, midi skirts, sweaters, leather dresses and wool coats were presented.

For the evening and for the red carpet we saw many sexy sheer halter neck gowns which billowed down the runway. These looks were either accented with organza petals or paired with a petal jacket or shrug.

Key accessories included Fedoras hats accented with coloured feathers, Mary Jane heels, knee high boots, block shaded oversized sunglasses with square lines, fine jewlery and an exotic mix of bags including crocodile, lizard and ostrich.

I love that the Gucci woman is all about colour.

Favourites: Python fox collard jacket paired with a lilac blouse, purple cardi and maroon skirt plus two tone mustard and black asymmetrical dress with sheer skirt

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Kate Walsh, Demi Moore, Susan Sarandon, Leighton Meester, Lucy Liu, Kate Beckinsale and Fan Bing Bing

It’s been a while since we last saw Amber Heard on the red carpet.

At the “Drive Angry 3D” LA Premiere this week she proved she hasn’t lost any of her charm or ability to pull of any look.

She wore a gunmetal grey fully sequined Donna Karan strapless dress.

I love dress on her, but I wish she’d opted to go slightly shorter on the hem.

I’ll guess she wanted this look to be all about the dress as she wore simple bow front black Casadei peep-toe heels, Gilan Heritage Collection diamond drop earrings and a cocktail ring to complete her look.

I only attended one show during London Fashion Week and that was Joanna Sykes’ first presentation for Aquascutum.

Like Burberry and Mulberry, Aquascutum is a much cherished British brand so the pressure would have been on Joanna to deliver.

She did as she gave us many basis with modern unpretentious twists.

We saw lots of forever statement pieces, clean line, sharp cuts and a playful mix of textures and colours.

Bold colours like orange and vivid blue were presented alongside black and some neutral colours.

Tailored pants, skirts, blouses, knit sweaters, shearling trimmed jackets and a black oversized jumpsuit were presented in this collection.

The key theme of this collection was layering as shorts were paired with dresses and one look had a cropped blazer over a longer blazer.

Front Row: Samantha Cameron

Favourites: Orange sweater and peach skirt with white coat plus black oversized jumpsuit

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Alexa Chung, Kristen Stewart, Lily Donaldson and Daisy Lowe

Do not adjust your computer screens, Demi Moore isn’t wearing black…I repeat she isn’t wearing black.

People often say that black is a slimming colour, but Demi looked very slender wearing an electric blue Vivienne Westwood dress to the 13th Annual Costumer Designers Guild Awards in LA last night.

Those of you who have been screaming for a new hairstyle from Demi will also be pleasantly surprised by her fishtail plait.

And for the rest who were hoping for 3 for 3, you will be sadly disappointed because Demi still opted for black Casadei peep-toes.

What can I say? She loves a black heel like Aniston loves black dresses and like Renee Zellweger loves Carolina Herrera.

Demi added Cartier and Dana Rebecca Designs jewels to complete her look.
