I was underwhelmed by this year’s Oscar gowns. Of these, Anne Hathaway and Hailee Steinfeld were my faves. I wish Jennifer Hudson or Jennifer Lawrence had made the cut.
I’m going with the wow factor – Cate Blanchett was the only one who made me say ‘WOW’ out loud.
Cate the Great obviously followed closely by Mila Kunis.
I say Mila Kunis because she did not disappoint us- she wore Elie Saab and SMILED. Plus there was no preset bias toward her look like there was for many with Cate Blanchett.
Cate and then Hailee.
Great Coverage as usual!!
Many thanks xxxx
And now, get ready to cover ALL these after parties and luncheons! You’re never gonna rest, muahahahahaha!!
(Just kidding, great job as always
)
i wanted to vote for hilary swank but since she’s not in the poll i picked amay adams.
amy looked stunning. and her necklace dodn’t bother me
my other favorites would be cate blanchett, hailee steinfeld and mila kunis
i wish jennifer hudson was on here. mila came in tied with her for me. and cate was third.
I wish both Jennifer Lawrence and Celine Dion both made the cut.
Michelle Williams looks great, but this look is obviously just an updated version of the Jason Wu dress she wore to Venice.
I loved Cate too but Anne’s Armani was SUPER FABULOUS.
Anne Hathaway in sapphire Armani gown – stands out as the most perfect look. Sandra B. in red – 2nd.
I agree with you, Nat39. Also, perhaps I am shallow, but I don’t see the inclusion of Michelle Williams. She looks nude under the gown, it is boring, her styling is meh and she shows zero enthusiasm. I think there were much better candidates to round out this field.
Quite an anti-climax this year, nothing amazing, nothing really awful. Cate Blanchett’s dress is beautiful, but not on her….it felt too pale and insipid.
Cate Blanchett, with Hailee Steinfeld as runner up.
I have a feeling that I’ve already seen everything else before, althought they are all really pretty
No Penelope or Scarlett?!? Not a fair poll…..
Mila Kunis with out a doubt.
The best dressed this year was HALLE BERRY and i was disappointed none of the looks wow me!…It was very boring.
Why didn’t HALLE BERRY make the cut? I don’t see her here. Besides, the Oscars is WHACK!….They tried to make up for their lack of diversity by having OPRAH as a presenter and HALLE BERRY acknowledging LENA HORNE and those African-American kids doing a number.
The entire night was Huh?…It was definitley a whiteout year!!!
So what you are saying is that they should have nominated an average performance instead of an actuall good one just for the sake of diversity…? :/
No but c’mon it’s whiteout Hollywood…Even Idris Elba said “Is’ not designed for us” That was sooooooo TRUE!
Agree with Mary.. people should be nominated on merit not just to be politically correct. Anyways it was not a white out.. Javier Bardem was nominated for a SPANISH film.. so spanish actor in a non-english role.. it’s very difficult to be recognised for a foreign film so i think this totally cancels out your ‘whiteout’ argument.
Since there isn’t Natalie Portman, it’s hard between Mila Kunis and Camila Alves, I love both black and lace, but I choose Mila because she’s lovely, her dress is beautiful, but Camila is my second choice.
Hailee gets my vote. So adorable.
It has to be Cate for showing us that you can do subtle, soft and feminine, as well as conceptual and sculptural, all in one dress and worn with ease. She is the 100% winner in an overall palid, derivative and boring Oscar year.
Here here!
absolutely!
And where is Halle Berry??? I think she deserves at least a place in this poll.
I didn’t consider her for a single second. Sorry, she’s very unoriginal
Definitely agree with you! The only who really stood out in my opinion were Cate and Hailee. Can’t I vote for both, can I?:D please do something I can’t choose xD
Uhmm… You´re right. Beatiful gown but nothing new.
My vote is for Cate.
Last year’s Oscars disappointed me with the lack of gowns I loved. This year, I couldn’t choose. My vote went to Cate, it’s great that someone made this collection work so perfectly. Mila is my second choice. I wasn’t so keen on this collection at first, but so far it translated great to the red carpet. In fact, the only look I don’t like from this poll is Camilla Alves – I would’ve put Nicole Kidman instead. I’m not sure why, but I liked her dress a lot.
I have to say that I thought if any star don’t wanna do wrong just have to wear Givenchy..
I guess I wasn’t wrong. Cate was without a doubt the most beautiful at the Oscars.
Hailee Steinfeld looked lovely but I have to go with Mila. She was perfection.
My favorite was Hilary Swank sooooooo… I voted Mila. My second choice was Hilee and the others were a bit blah for me. Not a great year, I missed diva’s dresses (did you listen Penelope?).
I can’t wait for the parties coverage. Great job FC, as always you give your best at the Oscar’s.
xoxoxo from Spain
thanks…it coming up x
Hailee look so young like a little princess.
I’m missing Hilary Swank, she was my best dressed, given Queen Cate doesn’t even enter the competition…
SO annoyed I was on holiday to miss all this, but it was a pretty good year dress wise. I had to pick CAte blanchett, simply for the fact she looked amazing and why noone else ahs worn this sdie of that givenchy collection yet i still do not know. Mila Kunis and Hailee steinfeld looked gorgeous too.
Nothing outstanding for me… No jawdropping moments (where was Zoe in a fab gown like last year?!) I felt underwhelmed… oh well, there is always Cannes…
why is this so hard???
cate, mila or amy?
Why didn’t Jennifer Lawrence make the cut?
because no one liked it. If you read the comments that is clear.
I really don’t like having to defend the lists every time.
It is what it is based on readers comments
From what I got people called it simple and stunning. Otherwise I wouldn’t have asked you.
from what I got everyone said she ripped off ScarJo and said she looked like an extra from Baywatch.
All hail queen Cate! I love that she wore something different. All the ladies in the long shiny sequined gowns looked lovely, but it got kind of boring. I have to say that Anne kind of stole the night for me. Her hair and outfits were flawless. Hard to beat the host and her 10 changes!
as much as I love MIla, Camilla, and Cate I have to say that last year the gowns were more breathtaking..
Hello FC,
I so wish that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made the cut..I thought she looked absolutely gorgeous in brown Armani Prive.
Thanks
for me it’s amy adams,i loved cate, mila, haille and anne as well, none of the above looks are bad, some probably just ok.I’m really surprised that people didn’t like jennifer lawrence,i loved her!
As gorgeous and bold as Cate Blanchett looked, my fave gown had to be Mila Kunis, she looked stunning!
I loved Mila early but Sandra has come home with a wet sail. She just looks so statuesque and classic, I love that Wang!
Cate looked fantastic too, but Sandra is the one I can’t stop thinking about.
Helen Mirren would have had my vote hands-down. Best looking, most appropriate, sexy as all get-out.
I voted for Hailee, it’s so refreshing to see a young actress wearing an age appropriate dress for once.
Too bas Celine Dion didn’t make the poll, she was stunning.
jennifer hudson and jennifer lawrence was over looked what a shame.
Sandra Bullock without a doubt. Stunning. And my second choice would be Camilla Alves.
I was pretty underwhelmed by all the looks this year, so I’m switching up their looks for fun (anne hathaway’s dress on michelle williams, mandy moore’s dress on helena bonham carter, jennifer lawrence’s dress on natalie portman, etc)
