Beautiful, But Isn’t She Always Beautiful? Award
There always has to be at least two Marchesa gowns at major events.
Hailee Steinfeld wore the first and Halle Berry wore the second Marchesa look at the 2011 Oscars tonight.
The Oscar winning actress was glowing – literally – wearing a nude and crystal encrusted corset Marchesa gown with organza and silk tulle ruffles.
Had this look been a black plunging gown I would’ve been very disappointed.
I’m glad despite her woes she made the effort.

clearly she let her daughter near the dress with scissors, it is a total mess. nice from the waist up but from the waist down its horrid.
Glad she went for the princess moment. I heard somewhere that nude tones look best on someone who isn’t anywhere close to that shade of nude. And Halle proves that right. She looks so gorgeous here. Maybe a bit fussy on some but not on Halle.

See, I really want to be thrilled by this, but I cannot. It’s not her, she looks wonderful, just that I’ve seen this dress a million times before – same for Hillary Swank.

She always looks the same to me, and I am never really blown away by her anymore. I love this gown, but she bores me.
This was perfection. It was classy, beautiful, and figure flattering without being over the top sexy. If I could tweak anything it would have been the eye makeup with was a little heavy handed and monochromatic on screen.
hmm im actually more impressed by this dress in pictures than i was when i saw her on tv walking down the read carpet..

I thought that she looked breathtaking. I don’t know what everyone is expecting. She doesn’t really do avant-garde
I didn’t like the bottom, the top good, but the bottom – it looked like she got tangled up in loo paper (if loo paper was tulle that is).
The dress is gorgeus and looks great on her body,but it is something that i don’t like about Halle ..
she looks stunning. you can’t go wrong in a gown like that…a bit safe but still interesting. i much prefer this style than her usual plunging gowns as well!
The corset is beautiful but the rest is quite messy. I don’t like her make up, most of all the eyeshadow and this dress is a deja vu, it seems like I’ve already seen it many times.
I like this, but it’s a little too bridal for the Oscars…

Halle’s back on form. I applaud her for going for what works for her on such a big occasion. No need to be “try hard” when one is so naturally gorgeous. Brava.
The dress is nice and she looks really nice but again I just dont find her appealing any more on the red carpet because of her personal life
JFC it was like the Beige Olympics last night. So many terribly boring, similar looking dressing. Obviously Halle is outrageously stunning in whatever she wears but this dress was dull
I will say tho that I thought the hem detail was kind of interesting, it looked like smoke.

There seems to eb something missing. I can;t put my figner on what it is because she looks drop dead gorgoeus, but I am slightly bored somehow. I think a necklace might have been nice.

She’s so beautiful it’s just ridiculous. Gorgeous, as always, and as others have noted, this blush/sand shade is so much better on her skin tone than on fair girls (Gwynneth take note).
