WOW….what a perfect way to kick of the 2011 Oscars tonight.
Jennifer Lawrence was the first to hit the red carpet wearing a custom-made Calvin Klein gown.
Her first-time nominated actress has set the bar really high.
I hope this is a sign of good things to come.
Everything about this look is simple and beautiful.
The hot red carpet lets us know she want to stand out, but her subtle accessories lets us know she’s not trying too hard.
Jimmy Choo ‘New Lancer’ platform sandals, a Judith Leiber clutch and Chopard jewels completed her look.

I love this look head to toe. I wouldve changed her hair to something more dressy, but her hair is amazing and so stunning! I have a feeling that she will be on every best dressed list there is!

I can’t believe all the applause she’s receiving for this. Baywatch was the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw this look. The neckline, the hair, the nude lips.

At first i didn’t like this look for an Oscar evening. But after reading your post, i have to agree. She didn’t want to look as if she was trying too hard. She’s just a newbie and it it’s a good simple look to begin the Oscars jorney.

Gorgeous and very innovative. One wouldn’t think minimal is innovative, but at the Oscars it certainly is. The color and her fabulous body does all the talking. Love her curves!
I agree, love the simpleness of the dress but I have to say this WAY too similar to Scarlett Johansson’s 2006 Golden Globe dress. I am sort of disappointed that she didn’t wear something a little more original.

I don’t get what the fuss is about. Everyone talking about “setting the bar high…” if this is the “high bar,” then the red carpet is going to be very dull. lol.
On TV the dress has such a different colour! Like bright red!

Simple and stunning! I sort of wish she had accessorized a bit more, like Kate Winslet usually does in a simple YSL number plus a major piece of accessory. But then Jennifer is young, so the “no fuss” look works, too.

I don’t like it either! To me a minimalist look has to be chic and that’s not the feeling I get from her in this.. Maybe it’s the wavy, kind of cheap hair.. I liked many of her previous choices but for this kind of look she should get lessons from Zoey Saldana, Diane K or Emma Stone.

she looks good…but not amazing which could’ve happened because she is gorgeous. the dress is safe and yes, reminds me of baywatch. its a little too safe for me as well…calvin klein doesn’t really work with the oscars. only certain people can wear calvin klein without looking dull.
I adore this look. I think she is one of the few who can pull of such a simple look adn really stand out. It definitely doesn;t hold a candle to her Louis Vuitton Golden Globes dress, but it realyl shone amongst the tonne of embellished gowns we saw. She has a killer body too.
