Oscar de la Renta’s Fall 2011 presentation showcased an elegant Russian and Oriental inspired collection.
It was dramatic and full of luxurious offerings of both textures and colours. The palette consisted of burgundy, blue, emerald green, taupe, black, white and grey.
We saw a lot of fur on hats, hoods, vests and trims on coats.
Classic Oscar cocktail dresses, ladies who lunch dresses, tweed jackets, and gorgeous gowns were also presented.
I loved how the theme would change from nomadic chic to Park Avenue princess at a moment’s notice.
The presentation ended with a finale of stunning gowns which were mostly fitted excluding the silk chiffon ball gown worn by Lindsey Wixson above.
The gowns either had glimmering details or punchy prints.
I was pleasantly surprised by this collection. It wasn’t at all what I expected, but I think that made me love it even more.

What were your favorite looks FC? de la Renta is my favorite designer, always a heaven of a feeling whenever I see his works down the runway. His technicalities and vision, he really knows a woman’s body and essence. Just glamourous.
The black girl in the opening picture is a picture of perfection.
My favorite piece is the multi-coloured sequin patchwork paisley print gown, too, though I’m not sure who deserves the credit. de la Renta or the textile designer? The gown itself seems rather simple, but the print is just gorgeous.
Oscar’s show was beautiful. There were so many colors and textures. I would probably wear every single look if I had the money.
