Donna Karan’s Fall 2011 collection was entitled “Pearls of wisdom.”

With this in mind it’s no wonder that all the models wore a sting of Erickson Beamon pearls with nearly every model that hit the runway.

Against the black backdrop the grey, silver and nude pieces made a dramatic impact on the runway.

With all the model sporting chic high chignons we saw luxe–furs, sheer wraps, fitted dresses, tapered pants, wool bouclé pencil skirts, chiffon blouses, blazers and some drop-dead gorgeous gowns which closed the show.

Nearly every look excluding the gowns was nipped in at the waist to give a beautiful defined feminine silhouette.

This collection was designed for the confident woman who can command everyone’s attention in a room.

She’s powerful without needing to wear masculine looks.

Key accessories included chiffon scarves worn as a hood, ladylike top-handle frame bags, suede gloves with fur cuffs and pearls.

Favourites: Pearl satin jersey gown, the sequin and pearl embroidered tulle gown and the chiffon blouse with the grey boucle tweed skirt
