Most Stunning Award
Whilst I’m disappointed that Thandie Newton ‘champion for British fashion’ didn’t wear a British designer to the 2011 BAFTA Awards in London tonight, I glad she opted for this gown because it’s way overdue a red carpet moment.
Her Monique Lhuillier Spring 2011 gown is breath-taking. As usual Thandie never puts a foot wrong. Even the rain soaked red carpet doesn’t stop her from looking flawless.
She kept her hair and make-up simple wearing this exquisite rose print taffeta strapless ball gown which features an exaggerated hand bustled skirt.
Easily one of my favourites at this event.

I’d love to see pics of this dress without the red carpet. My only issue with this look is that the color of the dress clashes with the red carpet. But there’s no denying it’s stunning and regal and a great color for Thandie.
She makes me wan’t to be sick she is SO beautiful and talented!it is a little disapointing she didn’t rock an English desinger but don’t forget when she looked so amazing when she wore christian lacroix to the Baftas..my first BDOT Year.
I have a weird sense of deja vu about this dress. Has Thandie or someone else previously worn a very similar dress?
you must be thinking of her Vivienne Westwood gown from the Met Gala
The shape is also similar to the christian lacroix dress she wore when she won the bafta for best supporting actress in 2006.
A great look for her and she never disappoints,
Wowza! Love this gown on her, perfection with her skin tone.
Beside Hailee Steinfeld the best dressed of the Baftas.
Love this gown and love it on Thandie but her necklace is weak. It needs to be more like the runway one.
I agree — weak necklace. It adds nothing.
As for the dress, it’s absolutely beautiful and while she looks smashing in it, I don’t know if the colour wows her lovely skintone. Is it bad of me to want to see her in the blue dress that is walking away in the background? That colour would have been amazing on her, would have even made that necklace make more sense.
Beautiful if she lost the distracting necklace.
Fabulous dress and she wears it wonderfully!
i love the dress on her but the necklace puts me off.
ditto. the necklace seems so extraneous to her entire look.
I agree. This look is my favorite, stunning minus the necklace
Thandie looks exquisite, and the colors and proportions of the dress and accessories work very well with her delicate bone structure, coloring, and ‘let’s not over-do it’ sense of style. Let’s not forget that she is a petite woman so a bolder necklace would have competed with her face and the dress.
Wonderful as always. I even like the necklace, which I think anchors the very extravagant dress and makes it look a bit less costumey than it might have been had she copied the runway presentation exactly.
AMAZING!! She looks fabulous
What a dress- she looks stunning! And I don’t mind the necklace (though appear to be in a minority!)
*JAW DROPPING*
I am most impressed by how insanely tall this dress makes her look.
Fantastic choice.
Her dress is so dreamy and adorable.Love the color of the dress, but then again the necklace doesn’t fit at al..
I agree. I think I would have preferred it without any necklace.
One word….Gorgeous.
wonderful. and very sarah jessica parker if i might say
