Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: January 2011

Michelle Obama walked the red carpet with her husband for the Formal State visit arrival ceremony on the White House’s South Lawn yesterday looking very chic and sophisticated wearing Roksanda Ilincic.

She wore both a coat and a dress by the London based designer.

The Roksanda Ilincic Fall 2010 navy wool coat was worn over a dress from the same collection.

Even though Michelle’s navy beaded wool and duchess silk satin dress is heavily embellished, it has been toned down from the runway version plus the sleeves aren’t as voluminous.

I love the whole look including the complementary accessories which include burgundy gloves and black over-the-knee boots.

Upon seeing the First Lady wearing two looks from her collection Roksanda Ilincic commented, “I have long been an admirer of the classic yet incredibly modern style of Mrs/Michelle Obama. She has consistently chosen beautiful colours and patterns, whilst supporting many incredible designers. That pieces from my collection have been chosen for this prestigious event is both exciting and gratifying – I love her choice of my AW dress and coat, mixing simplicity with luxurious embellishments.”

Marisa Tomei graced the red carpet wearing a Vivienne Westwood lily floral-print corset dress to the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences’ 2nd Annual Governors Awards back in November.

Her distinctive Westwood corset emerald green leafy print dress was paired with silver drop earrings, a silver statement bracelet, a black Ferragamo clutch and black Ferragamo pumps

Actress Debi Mazar wore the same dress when she arrived at CNN’s “Larry King Live” final broadcast party at Spago restaurant in Beverly Hills, California a month later.

She also opted for a black clutch, black pumps and a large chunky bracelet.

Marisa wins this for me as I prefer her pumps and I prefer her silver jewelery to Debi’s gold.

You can buy their Vivienne Westwood lily floral print dress from Net-A-Porter US.

January Jones appears in the Versace Spring 2011 campaign for bags, shoes, sunglasses and optical frames, but it’s Abbey Lee Kershaw who models for the ready-to-wear collection.

The Australian model was shot for this ad campaign by Mario Testino.

We all know that Donatella loves blondes, so could this be the reason Abbey dyed her hair platinum blonde for the Spring 2011 runway shows?

The campaign also features platinum blonde male models Malthe Lund Madsen and Victor Nylander in leather pants.

But they fad into the background as Abbey stands out wearing bright colours and fringed Mediterranean inspired prints.

Olivia Palermo attended the Ermenegildo Zegna Fall 2011 menswear fashion show with her boyfriend and model Johannes Huebl.

She wore a very warm Agnona Fall 2010 autumn look.

This included check pants, a grey top and a peachy blazer.

The Queen of accessorizing added her favourite mustard Kurt Geiger pumps and her favourite vintage Hermes clutch.

This is a beautiful mix of colours which is perfected with an added pop of colour via her heels.

Agnona is the women’s brand owned by Ermenegildo Zegna.

Gwyneth Paltrow recently appeared around Rachael Ray’s kitchen table for the first time to promote her new movie, “Country Strong.”

She shared tidbits about her life, including naming the guy who gave the best smooch among all of her hot leading men. “I did a little cameo once at the beginning of Austin Powers 3, I think it was, and I got to make out with Tom Cruise,” she recalls. “He was an amazing kisser!”

Gwynie towered over Rachael wearing a Carven dress which has a draped tie at waist and a wrap-effect V-cut back.

Her dress was paired with creamy Doo.Ri sexy sandals.
