Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: January 2011

Thandie Newton has yet to fail me on the red carpet.

This woman has perfection oozing from every pore.

She attended the InStyle Best of British Talent BAFTA party at Shoreditch House in London last night looking sensational wearing a Jonathan Saunders Spring 2011 mini dress.

Thandie removed the thin black leather belt from her sky blue and grey dress, which I think makes the look a lot more appealing.

The dress was paired with a black clutch and white shoes, which are usually an instant fail in my eyes, but Thandie makes them work.

The British actress has long been a fan of Jonathan Saunders and British designers in general, so I applaud her for her continual support of these designers on the red carpet.

In the space of a week this Valentino Resort 2011 lace leather dress has been worn twice.

Im Soo Jung wore her dress to the press conference for her new movie “Come Rain Come Shine” in Seoul, South Korea last week.

She kept the look very simple by adding tights and patent ankle boots.

Rosamund Pike wore her dress sans tights to the “The Birds Eye View Film Festival 2011″ which she hosted in London.

Although Rosamund’s gold cuff isn’t doing anything for me, I much prefer her overall look.

Mostly because she didn’t wear tights, but also because she has a lot more confidence and attitude.

I must say that I found myself being quite charmed by Alexa Chung as she arrived at the Chanel Spring 2011 Couture presentation today in Paris, France.

She channeled Parisian chic wearing a Chanel Fall 2010 Couture tuxedo-inspired dress.

I adore this look without the cropped jacket. It really allows me to appreciate this look even more.

Some of you might think she looks like she’s about to wait tables, but I think she looks very elegant, yet she still managed to retain her cheeky charm.

Prada suede platform sandals and a black clutch completed her look.

My second show today was the Stephane Rolland Spring 2011 Couture presentation.

This is my 3rd season attending a Stephane Rolland show and each time is more beautiful than the last.

His attention to detail is second to none.

The powerful collection mixed structure with metallic finishing touches.

The necklines ranged from plunging to funnel plus the details were either gold hardware or a jewel embellishment at the waist, neck or shoulder.

The colour palette was more suited to Fall with burnt orange, mustard, chocolate, black and olive green, but he also presented a lot of white and nude looks.

I love the draping detail from the hips, the capes which seem to be his signature and the Princess Leia shoulders. It seems like couturiers aren’t willing to let the bold shoulder trend go just yet.

Instead of the usual white wedding gown, Stephane sent down a model wearing a fireball orange plunging jumpsuit with a cape that billowed as she stormed the runway.

This collection screamed classic elegance with touches of modernity.

Favourites: White funnel neck white dress with what looks like Maple syrup dripping down one side and the orange structured dress above

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Tilda Swinton, Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba, Diane Lane, Kyra Sedgwick, Helen Mirren and Freida Pinto

Diane Kruger attended the Chanel Spring 2011 Couture presentation today in Paris, France.

She looked tres chic wearing a look from the Chanel Fall 2010 Couture collection.

Her beige embellished dress was paired with some stellar nude and black Miu Miu sandals.

I love two things about this look.

The way Diane makes a Couture look feel like something she effortless put on and those heels.

She continues to impress me with her footwear choices.

Georges Chakra Spring 2011 Couture presentation took place this afternoon in Paris.

The designer used opulent fabrics, perfect tailoring, and rich jewel and neutral tones to create a beautiful collection which I hope to see on the red carpet.

Season after season the designer presents wearable, highly covetable and exquisite pieces during Haute Couture Week, yet I feel he doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

The textures varied from luscious chiffon, tulle, organza, lace, satin and silk.

I’m always excited to see the extravagant embellished pieces. On this occasion we saw sequins, feathers, rhinestones and crystals.

The colour palette was varied ranging from pretty pinks, sorbet orange, gorgeous greens, navy blue and white.

Georges’ mantra this season seemed to be ‘the bigger the better’, as he presented many ball-gowns which took up the width of the runway.

Favourites: Silver embellished dress with feathered accents and dripping gown tulle ball-gown

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Carrie Underwood, Queen Latifah, Kellie Pickler, Taylor Swift, Emily Blunt, Olivia Wilde, Selena Gomez
