Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: January 2011

The last time we saw Olivia Wilde she was wearing a beautiful ball-gown, but she opted for something edgier when she attended the Gucci Rue Royale Reopening Party in Paris last night.

I love her Gucci Spring 2011 jumpsuit. It’s a very strong look for someone who usually only gives us very girlie red carpet moments.

The black and jade silk wrap jumpsuit with azure sash detail was accessorized with a stunning gold statement necklace.

I thought this was part of the look until I reacquainted myself with the runway picture.

She adds black sandals and a purple satin clutch to her look.

This is the first time in a long time that I’ve been head-over-heels in love with a look from Olivia.

Diane Kruger was one of the many celebrity guests to attend the Gucci Rue Royale Reopening Party in Paris last night.

She stood out wearing yet another fabulous look on the red carpet.

I’ve been dying to see one of these tribal Gucci Spring 2011 dress on the red carpet and Diane totally rocks it.

The black silk organza backless dress with leather, PVC and metal fringe embroidery isn’t an easy look to pull off. Many wouldn’t be so brave.

She rarely goes wrong style-wise and her brave choices are clearly why we all love her so much.

Gucci ‘Kelis’ black and gold platform sandals complete this BDOTW worthy look.

I prefer this to her previous Chanel look.

Which gets your vote?

Demi Moore attended the “Margin Call” Premiere at the Eccles Center Theatre during the 2011 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah yesterday.

The actress appears to be Victoria Beckham’s biggest fan because she wears yet another VB dress.

On this occasion she wore a steel grey Victoria Beckham satin-crepe bell dress from the Spring 2011 collection.

I wasn’t a fan of this waxy looking dress to begin with – even less so in this grey colour – but Demi who loves to wear dark colours makes it work for her.

I originally thought this dress was look 15 back to front, but Demi is actually wearing look 16 with the exposed zipper pulled down half way.

Tights, booties, a black clutch and a Cartier Platinum diamond and onyx Panther body wrap ring completed her look.

Elie Saab’s Spring 2011 Couture collection served up pure glamour and plenty of sexy appeal.

Every look was so very delicate and romantic.

I loved the use of Chantilly lace creating a softer delicate femininity to this Couture collection.

The colour palette consisted of tea-rose pink, followed by lilac, raspberry, fern green and stone with some gorgeous print looks with bouquets of wild flowers adorned on the gowns.

Amongst those looks we saw some vintage inspired pieces in black and off-white which need a red carpet moment. I can picture them on someone quite pale like Dita von Teese, Anne Hathaway or Marcia Cross.

What doesn’t translate so well in these pictures are the sparkling details which adorned most of the looks.

The pieces moved from regal to uber sexy, with splits which seemed to be raised even higher from the Spring 2010 collection. I loved the bustier which was sliced open to give it a dramatic plunge.

A lot of the looks had a high waisted silhouette which allows for more of a dramatic flare on the skirt.

We saw more gowns than cocktail dresses, but with the Oscars around the corner we shouldn’t be surprised.

I’m hoping that at least 2 of these looks make it on the red carpet come February 27.

Here is an amazing picture of the finale bride taken by Jessica Michault.

Favourites: Print gown with floral accent on the shoulder and black and white vintage inspired gown

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Marion Cotillard, Angelina Jolie, Diane Kruger, Megan Fox, Helen Mirren, Dita von Teese, Fan Bing Bing, Beyonce, Abbie Cornish, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna and Marcia Cross.

British musician Corinne Bailey Rae also attended the InStyle Best of British Talent BAFTA party which was held at Shoreditch House in London last night.

Like Thandie she also opted for a British designer.

She wore a black Alexander McQueen long sleeve satin dress.

Her dress has an exquisite embroidered detail on the neckline which gives it a regal feel.

It would’ve been nice had Corinne worn her hair back to fully show off this detail, but this hairstyle is very much her trademark look.

The rest of her look was kept simple because nothing should upstage this dress.

Black ankle strap pumps completed her look.

The best way to make people forgot a red carpet disaster like the one Heidi Klum had at the Golden Globes, is to wear a Marchesa dress.

Instant redemption.

The leggy blonde TV host attended the InStyle Best of British Talent BAFTA party at Shoreditch House in London last night.

Her black Marchesa embellished mini dress was also accented with feathers on the shoulders and skirt.

It’s a real show stopping dress, which she do all the talking by only adding studded ankle boots and flawless neutral make-up.
