Can’t believe Catherine Zeta Jones’ Monique Lhuiller dress didn’t make it! Although it was a fantastically styled week on the red carpet, so I don’t suppose I can complain too much!
Think Leighton’s Burberry Prorsum dress wins for me. She’s brought it all together brilliantly; the shoes, the hair, the modifications to the dress, perfection!
Am I the only one sick and tired of Leighton Meester being a BDOTW contender EVERY single week? And imo unfairly winning. She obviously has people who vote for her nonstop because she is rarely what I personally consider “best dressed”. She doens’t deserve to be here once let alone twice this week if you ask me. There were several GG dresses prettier than that polygamist looking gown she wore. Where is Lea Michele? Eva Longoria? Mila Kunis? I voted for Anne because she,for me,blows all the others away.
I’m not a big Meester fan and don’t see what the fuss is about either.
I voted for Anne, because as you put it, she blew the others away. Although Michelle Obama did look pretty awesome. But my eye is always drawn back to the graceful Anne.
agree
It all comes down to personal taste. In my opinion the three ladies you named looked absolutely great, but it was nothing new and definitely not good enough for best dressed. Leighton on the other hand, whether people like it or not, always gives us something new and exciting and is constantly taking risks. To me that’s what all the fuss is about.
That’s totally true. Her fans are rabid and vote like crazy.
Anne looks gorgeous and I voted for her.
i only vote for leighton when i feel that she’s actually best dressed. she was awful in a few outfits and i never voted for her when she wore them (for example, the marchesa jumpsuit). you mighn’t think she wore something great, but i do, and apparently so do others.
taste is subjective — something you like might be something i don’t, or vice versa. i never vote based on who it is — i’m not a fan of blake lively, but when she’s amazing in something, i give her credit when it’s due.
(and actually, i voted for michelle obama because she’s achingly beautiful in mcqueen)
Completely, I think it should be based on the outfit and how the person looks, not personality or personal preference of celebrity/ feeling towards celebrity. Of course everyone has different taste, how boring would it be if we all had the same taste?
and re: michelle obama, she looks achingly beautiful in everything!
she’s only the contender, not the winner. which i think is very deserving because she does give us something exciting everytime. n just like june, i only voted for her if i really feel that she was the best dressed, not because i was a huge fan or anything. and i think so does everyone else here…after all, we all come here for the fashion
plus, if u think that ppl were voting bcos they are fans, she wasn’t a favorite here before, remember? so i personally think its her style that they love more than anything!
and you were asking for mila and eva? fc didn’t even list them in GG best dress list, so i don’t think it is relevant here.
……as for this week poll…i’m torn between Olivia and mrs. obama! hmm…can’t wait to see who you pick for this week best dress FC!!! ^_^
I know what you mean; I love some of her dresses, but not consistently.
Definitely Michelle
Surpised Olivia P made it with such low-key outfit
And Anne looks great here, but still hell no she is Catwoman
I agree. I just cant see Anne in that role.
Mila Kunis would have been better
Mila Kunis would have been divine in that role!
I voted for Mrs. Obama because she looks as fabulous as any of the others even though she is not in the entertainment or fashion industries. My second choice would be Olivia Palermo because it is so different from the others and so perfectly put together.
I say Iman because she added that gorgeous feathered shrug and the gown complements her skin beautifully.
It came down to Michelle Obama and Angelina Jolie. In the end, even though I wanted to vote for Angelina because it’s the best she’s looked in a long time, I went with Michelle Obama.
That McQueen is such a bold statement for anyone to make, let alone the first lady. I applaud her for it. I just read Oscar de la Renta’s comments in WWD and I just don’t agree with what he said. He sounded jealous.
What did Oscar de la Renta say? I am loving that Michelle Obama wore McQueen and defied the conventional way of how the first lady should dress – shows her love of fashion. and she looks absolutely STUNNING!
Thanks FC for an amazing week – I don’t know how you do it! Much appreciated!
Ridiculously hard decision this week – couldn’t decide a favourite from the Oscars between Angeline Jolie, Anne Hathaway and Leighton Meistor, and now with Michelle Obama in the mix – this is proving impossible!
I sense a great 2011 if this couple of weeks is anything to go by!
Absolutely. Long may this continue
Thank you.
You can read about Oscar here
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/21/michelle-obama-state-dinner-oscar-de-la-renta_n_812043.html
Oscar de la Renta needs to keep quiet. He is only making himself look bad (and jealous) every time he critiques Mobama’s sartorial choices. He had his moment in the White House sun–you couldn’t keep Laura Bush out of his atelier-she was there all the time (I worked in the same building at the time and it would swarm with secret service). He should respect that Michele Obama spreads the love around and brings recognition to the new guard of American designers (and designers overseas). He still has plenty of lovelies on the red carpet wearing his designs (aka Lea Michele, et al). Its not like he’s starving for press or money.
I’m sorry to rant, I just think for the most part he is such a gentleman, such a classy guy in an industry that can be pretty nasty, and then he opens his mouth and disappoints me.
He’s comments could’ve been taken out of context as these things often are.
Oh dear. De La Renta isn’t doing himself any favours by constantly criticising Michelle Obama’s outfits in the press. There may be an element of professional jealousy but a bigger factor, unfortunately, is his politics. He dressed John McCain’s wife Cindy during the presidential campaign and he is an avid supporter of the Republican Party.
Michelle Obama has boosted the careers of many young and lesser known American designers by wearing their designs, such as Jason Wu, Isabel Toledo and Thakoon. And I thought wearing red was a nice touch on this occasion because red is such an important colour in Chinese culture. She looked fabulous and gets my vote for BDOTW.
He is just jealous because i can not ever recall her wearing his designs
I just had to vote for Anne! She is perfection personified every time… I don’t know how she knocks it out of the park every single awards show. And just adding to the beauty, she works each look with such class and elegance! There were so many worthy candidates this week though; I would say the best poll I have seen in months, maybe ever!
Thanks for all your spectacular awards season coverage so far. Looking forward to the rest. Have a good weekend! xo
Thank you. You too my dear xxxx
Wow, way to make it difficult on not only us, but you FC. You put the three women who may make your BDOTY poll in the running for BDOTW. This may be one of the most commented and most voted on polls ever.
Now for the tough choice and discussion. Of the two Leighton Meester choices, I prefer her Burberry look over her Louis Vuitton look. And as much as Leighton, Natalie, Gabrielle and Olivia look great, there is no way they can compete with the others.
My personal top 3 favorites (and again, my opinion) are Anne in Armani Privé, Michelle Obama in Alexander McQueen and Iman in J. Mendel. As much I want to vote for Anne (and may from my other computer), my vote is going to go to Michelle Obama. She is rockin the hell out of that McQueen gown and I am just blown away by how gorgeous she looks.
It is the hardest on ever, but I’m going to force myself to make one pick.
I agree that there are 3 BDOTY candidates on this list
I am with you on everything you stated. Michelle Obama, Anne Hathaway and Iman were my top 3 of this week too. My vote went to the First Lady. She was breathtaking in that McQueen gown.
Matt R & dee – I couldn’t agree with you more!! My top 3 are Iman, Anne & Michelle Obama — but I had to go with the First Lady — that dress is amazing & she wears it so well!
But I am sad I couldn’t vote for Iman too…I love that look!
Omg I can’t decide Anne,Angelina, leighton especially in Burberry and Olivia Wilde.Imam looks stunning and well done to olivia palermo in such a different look contending with all these gowns.this is possibly the hardest weak ever!!
P.S.I really liked Natalies dress here but preceded her golden globe look.
where’s emma stone?!?! love her dress!
wow you must of had a hard time choosing the looks for best dressed of the week! you made the best choice this week selecting.
my top 3 are michelle obama, olivia wilde & anne hathaway! great coverage Fc have a great weekend
You too xx
thanx Fc Cant Wait Till More Awards Coverage:)
More next week
i vote mrs O. she looked STELLAR. Thank you FC for all your hardwork.
My pleasure x
Tough week. I gave it to Olivia for finally showing some personality in a whimsy outfit.
Having lived through and loved the Jackie Kennedy years, I am so thrilled to have another First Lady who brings so much style to the White House. Michelle Obama is absolutely a knockout in this dress.
This was such an amazing week on the red carpet! Gabrielle, Anne, Michelle Obama, Iman and Angelina Jolie – HOW am I supposed to pick the best from the best?
I think I’m gonna go with Mrs.O, because that dress on her literally gave me some serious goosebumps.
This was a very, very tough week this week. I fell for you FC, seriously good luck choosing your best dressed this week. I choose leighton in the louis vuitton, because although it wasn’t my favourite of all the dresses, although I still adore it, it looked great on her, suited her style, and her hair and makeup are faultless, which is mroe than I can say for almost any of the other looks, so she easily got my vote. I hope you have a wonderful weekend FC, after what has been a very crazy, and very busy last week. I hope you are recovering well from all the lack of sleep I am sure you encountered, particularly on sunday night/monday morning. THanks for all the hard work, as always it is such a pleasure to read your RCFA, and I look forward to your decision on sunday, as well as blog lovin’. xx
Going to be impossible
Leighton Sure Deserves the title for the Most Consistent
She is always on the best dressed of the week poll.
I love her in the Louis Vuitton Dress
I voted for Olivia. She was flawless, and I am all over that brown, sparkle dress.
The First Lady and Angelina Jolie both looked drop dead Gorgeous!
This is the hardest BDOTW poll EVER!! There’s a BDOTY poll inside it!!
What a wonderful week in any case!! Enjoy this weekend without awards!!
Lots of catch up sleep and getting ready for Couture week in Monday
Oh wow! It’s Couture week already? I’ve the feeling 2011 is going sooo fast and it has started off sooo good! Get some energy saving for Monday then! Couture is the true fashion magic!
Can it be a 3 way this week?
I love Angelina in that dress, it’s the best she has looked in a while and the color is GREAT!
Then Michelle Obama is KILLING that dress, it’s unexpected but she totally pulls it off so kudos for that!
Then Leighton Meester is having an amazing week with not just one but 2 great looks, I fear her votes might be split. While say some might not like her, in a way she has been the BDOTW as she has provided top notch looks throughout the whole week, so that deserves something.
I’m not really getting the hype around Anne, yeah it’s an OK dress but eh, her hair feels too messy and the gown isn’t that great, nothing about it really sticks out to me, there isn’t anything wrong per say but nothing that’s mind blowing.
It wouldnt surprise me if it ended like that
olivia wilde..if you could post her a photo f her showing off her shoes, she’ll definitely bring the house down.. those maybe the most gorgeous and at the same time most badass footwear ive ever seen..
Oooh tough week I know but where are the gorgeous Calvin Klein gowns from the Globes? I thought Emma S and Claire D looked so chic with nary a sequin, fringe, or poof. As always though, great work FC!
Thank you x
Ditto. Claire Danes was stunning in that pink Calvin Klein! And I wouldv’e liked to have seen Mila Kunis, Sophia Vergara from the GG up there. As far as ballgowns go, C Zeta-Jones’ rocked it was better than Olivia Wilde (IMHO).
Mobama wins for me but Iman totally deserves runner-up. Lets hear it for stylist women over 45! Wow!
I chose Leighton in Burberry, though it was a hard decision. I really liked Oliva too.
I’m curious about the gown Ellen Macpherson was wearing on the event for Portofino watches in Geneva.
this week was say too hard because of the Golden Globes dresses! those girls know how to those outfits off! my vote went to Olivia Wilde though, i may have a girl crush on her, the dress is so stunning!
Olivia Palermo. I would wear it myself and it stands out from all the looks we’ve been seeing lately. She looks amazing.
I really don’t think I can vote. If I vote for Anne I will feel bad for Michelle and if I vote for Michelle I will feel bad for Anne…. Michelle is a true style icon and that dress could overpower so many people but not Michelle. On the other hand there’s Anne and I just looove that color and the long sleeves. Plus then there is Olivia, Iman and Leihgton…… seriously too hard
It is too hard
It’s so hard this week!!!! I’d like to choose 3 outfit. I decided to vote for Natalie Portman, I love the dress, the hair, the make-up, she’s divine in that beautiful dress. But I also love A. Hathaway, that dress is gorgeous, and also all the accessories. I don’t understand the presence of O. Palermo, for the first time I don’t like how she’s dressed. Emma Stone deserved to be among the best dressed. At the end of the day, I voted for Natalie because, in general, I like her more than Anne.
Yeah, Somethings cannot be compared. It is like asking “who love you more, your mom or dad?”
i am torn between Anne Hathaway and Michelle Obama.
Since I cannot vote for both ladies, I voted for Anne Hathaway. She was really outstanding on Golden Globes and delivered it best.
Michelle Obama , other way, looks fantastic but lacked little bit of “edge” comparing to Anne Hathaway.
This is tough! Olivia Wilde was my favorite at the Globes but then Michelle Obama swoops in with her McQueen….how will I ever choose?
I voted for !st Lady Michelle Obama! She is just a Classy without trying! Elegance just pours out of her, yet she is down to earth & seems approachable & relatable!
Had to vote for Michelle. She looks phenomenal. Anne looks great. Olivia’s dress is fantastic, but gold shoes were all wrong and I don’t like her hair with the dress.
Leighton in Burberry Prorsum, but i feel almost criminal passing up on the beauty of Michelle O. and Angie in that lovely green…….tough, tough week!
