Michelle Obama walked the red carpet with her husband for the Formal State visit arrival ceremony on the White House’s South Lawn yesterday looking very chic and sophisticated wearing Roksanda Ilincic.
She wore both a coat and a dress by the London based designer.
The Roksanda Ilincic Fall 2010 navy wool coat was worn over a dress from the same collection.
Even though Michelle’s navy beaded wool and duchess silk satin dress is heavily embellished, it has been toned down from the runway version plus the sleeves aren’t as voluminous.
I love the whole look including the complementary accessories which include burgundy gloves and black over-the-knee boots.
Upon seeing the First Lady wearing two looks from her collection Roksanda Ilincic commented, “I have long been an admirer of the classic yet incredibly modern style of Mrs/Michelle Obama. She has consistently chosen beautiful colours and patterns, whilst supporting many incredible designers. That pieces from my collection have been chosen for this prestigious event is both exciting and gratifying – I love her choice of my AW dress and coat, mixing simplicity with luxurious embellishments.”

Great look for Mrs. Obama but oh how I wish she would stand up straight.
I like the look but kinda hate the gloves – in this light they remind be of rubber and blood. Urghh.
u r right.. the gloves look really bad.. too embellished for a state dinner :/
this wasn’t a state dinner, this was a state meeting. The McQueen is the state dinner.
I really like this outfit, more than the McQueen to be exact. If only she hadn’t wear those gloves…
Any pictures of her coat?
she’s wearing the coat in the first picture
Yes I know
I ment the back of her coat or any pictures of it seperatelly
Oh…lol..no sorry
Would LOVE to see the runway version on the red carpet. Quite a difficult look to pull off I reckon. Can understand why it was toned down for the state meeting.
Well Roksanda Ilincic is definitely on top of the tide. This is such a big shot. And if I don’t recall badly there were at least three A-list ladies at the Globes in Roksanda gowns… well well..
Just noticed how both Barack and Michelle are wearing the exact same colours. How very ‘Beckham’ of them!
I thought the same thing too! I like this outfit even the gloves.
Love the whole outfit. I like the gloves as they give a nice pop of color.
Her wearing Roksanda Ilincic was a surprise but I HATE the boots and I HATE the gloves. Look kinda ruined.
like it overall but not sure about the red gloves..
Oh I would have died had she not modified the sleeves!
I was there and she looked amazing in real life. So beautiful
those boots look terrible with that oufit!!
I liked everything but the boots. As usual, she stepped out o the box, and I love it.
I love the touch of red given by the gloves. I really appreciate that she gives huge chances to young designers. She’s the best First Lady, after Jackie.
Just as you know, Roksanda Ilincic is SERBIAN DESIGNER, based in London.
Yes, and who cares, really not that relevant. Her work is what matters.
That coat is absolutely to-die-for. Love it.
She looks awesome in navy.
