Tilda Swinton In Jil Sander – 2011 Golden Globe Awards

Most Androgynous Award
I loved that Tilda Swinton added a shirt to her Jil Sander Spring 2011 look to make her look formal for the 2011 Golden Globe Awards.

Whilst it shouldn’t work Tilda is the queen of androgyny, so she makes it work for her by keeping the look minimal yet still fashion forward.

No one else would get a pass with this look.

I love the pink pumps which you can see under her champagne skirt.

Woman, isn’t like 4 am in the UK. How are you still awake?!!! Now that is what I call dedication. you’re #awesome.

2 more posts then I’m gonna take a nap :)

Such a different look for the Globes. I love the yellow skirt. I would’ve loved to see her wear the t-shirt just as a “eff you” to dress codes that she’s been defying for years. But still, this is awesome, and no one can deny that only Tilda Swinton can pull this off.

Totally agree and the pink pumps are feminine which is cute.

    I love it!

Me too. She totally blew me away with this look. Such simple pieces but the whole ensemble together is itself superb. I mean who else could make a plain white shirt work on the red carpet. I just love it

yes yes yes!!! head to toe yes!

  5. Hannah January 17, 2011 at 03:42 #

I love Tilda, and I adore thi slook, again, one of my many, many favourites. I can’t help but wonder how killer this would’ve been with ginger hair

  6. Amber January 17, 2011 at 03:43 #

Tilda is the only person I can see being able to pull off this dress. Others have tried and failed miserably. She is just so delightfully unique!

  7. noo January 17, 2011 at 03:46 #

She has blown me away twice this week :D i love her

  8. mikeijames January 17, 2011 at 03:47 #

only tilda swinton could pull this off for the globes and all of the couture qualities of that skirt shine through on the stage and on the carpet.

It’s incredible that this woman made Jil Sander work for the red carpet! But that’s Tilda. Thank goodness, she’s never the cheesy leading lady for the dim-wit movie goers, so the US mainstream media will leave her alone and not trash the look. I just love it!

  10. Tania January 17, 2011 at 03:52 #

I agree with you FC, I like that she wore the shirt to make it formal, it totally works on her and is event appropiate!

  11. Caitlin January 17, 2011 at 03:59 #

    HEAVEN.

The runway look is very similar to the Jil Sander get-up Kate Bosworth wore, no?

  12. mol January 17, 2011 at 04:00 #

It was like a big relaxing wonderful moment to see her presenting, she really commands a stage – I love Jil Sander and I love Tilda.

Stunning, all class, flawless. I’m finding that this year at the Globes the clean, pure and simple looks are catching my eye. Tilda in Jil Sander and Emma Stone, for my mind, were the two standouts on the night and managed to look incredible without the need for silly bells and whistles.

This is the way to do simple, what a great look!

  15. Katie January 17, 2011 at 04:26 #

I bow down in the face of her awsomeness! Love her for wearing and pulling off daring looks like this.

I didn’t like the dress on Kate Bosworth, and I don’t like it on Tilda. It’s just looks cheap.

  19. Maddie January 17, 2011 at 07:44 #

Love Tilda, love this. The pink pumps are a great addition to this fab look.
Well done on your fabulous coverage of the Golden Globes FC. I really appreciate it :)

  20. Jones19 January 17, 2011 at 08:00 #

She pulled this look off better than Kate Bosworth that’s for sure. J’adore.

    • Gaber January 17, 2011 at 10:30 #

      This.
      So much.
      Definitely deserving a Best Dressed-nod.

    • Laura January 17, 2011 at 17:02 #

Agreed. Love this SO much more than Kate’s. Tilda makes me actually like the pillowcase skirt.

  21. chryssa January 17, 2011 at 10:23 #

I absolutely adore this daring look, although I am not so sure about the shoes…

  22. Marvel January 17, 2011 at 12:15 #

This is what I love about Tilda (and Helena Bonham Carter) they have their own style and stick to it. Sometimes it doesnt work and sometimes it does. She look great and a LOT better than Bosworth

  23. D January 17, 2011 at 12:30 #

changing this to a shirt reallyreally suits her. who else could have pulled this off??? thumbs up!!
are the pink shoes to bring out the slight hint of pink in the shirt?

been away for a few days dont know how much i have been missing here!! thanks FC =D

  24. Raquel January 17, 2011 at 12:41 #

It’s very Tilda and she looks great, but for me, the only time a white shirt really really worked on the red carpet was with Sharon Stone at the Oscars so many years ago.

Agreed on everybody else about Tilda doing much better than Bosworth.

  25. Lee Ann January 17, 2011 at 13:12 #

I can’t believe everybody is asking who else could pull this off? The answer Sharon Stone about 10 years ago.and she did it better.Sorry to break the lovefest but the shirt proportion really doesn’t go with volume of the skirt-eg skirt should have more bigger or shirt tighter.

    • kaitlin January 17, 2011 at 20:13 #

very valid point, Lee Ann. LOVE me some Tilda, but u r exactly on point about the proportions of this outfit. nevertheless, WAY TO GO, TILDA!!

    • shell February 12, 2011 at 00:39 #

agreed….proportions are off….the skirt looks like a bedspread to me also.

  26. Alina January 17, 2011 at 17:19 #

The look isn’t my style but I admire her for being different.
