Eva Mendes In Valentino – Art Of Elysium “Heaven” Gala

Eva Mendes is totally having a Valentino moment.

The previous night she wore Valentino Couture to the Critics’ Choice Awards, and last night she wore Valentino again to the Art Of Elysium “Heaven” Gala.

The beautiful actress looked like an angel wearing a delicate Valentino Pre-Fall 2011 rose ruffled shoulder silk gown with draped neck and bow waist.

My only problem with this look is the headband.

Had it been worn by Elle Fanning she would’ve look totally adorable, but it on a grown woman it doesn’t quite work for me.

Eva completed her glamorous red carpet look with with Vram for Gray platinum and yellow gold European cut diamond ring and a Vram for Gray platinum amber zircon and diamond ring.

The dress is gorgeous, but the headband. Eva Mendes is not Blair Waldorf.

      agreed! haha
the headband doesn’t ruins it all. it’s a great look

gorgeous…there is something about the headband that i love. even though she is a “grown woman” the headband gives a couture runway look to me. very whimsical.

I know! I am in love with this look head-to-toe. BDOTW. This is exactly how I would approach this dress. I am loving Eva Mendes in Valentino. Time to take a breather from Oscar de la Renta and Dolce & Gabbana.

perfection. my best dressed at the event

  4. Lee Ann January 16, 2011 at 16:12 #

Not sure if she is channeling the Duchess of Windsor or My Little Pony with the headdress.

      LMAO…that was really funny

  5. Mel January 16, 2011 at 16:15 #

I understand your problem with the headband, I have the same. She should stop watching Gossip Girl!

  6. Laura January 16, 2011 at 16:17 #

LOL FC, from your first line I thought you were Rachel Zoe. Totally a Zoe-like thing to say.

Love the look from the neck down, but from the neck up it looks a little too “Princess Diaries” for me.

    • Fashion Critic January 16, 2011 at 16:20 #

Funny you should say that because I have been watching the Rachel Zoe Project every day, they just started showing season 3 in the UK

The headband totally ruins the look for me. I think it makes her look ridiculous–like a little girl trying to dress up like a princess.

I for one like the headband, I think the dress has a 40s vibe and the headband works with it. It’s nice to see see an unexpected accessory like that on a celeb especially since they are not known for having interesting styling.
    I love the gown.

    This dress is absolutely beautiful!
Why Eva, why ruin it with the stupid headband?

I really like the fact that Eva Mendes has stopped showing off her curves in every single event. She has a gorgeous body, but an overwealming cleavage could have ruined the dress. She looks beautiful!

(Headbands are sooo last-year, unless you are a 10 year old)

  11. Naomi January 16, 2011 at 17:08 #

Is this look (really) modified? I didn’t see anything like it on the collection…

  12. Jones19 January 16, 2011 at 19:09 #

The headband makes her look like Snow White. Don’t know if that’s a good thing or not….I like the dress but don’t love it.

    • Lils January 17, 2011 at 16:19 #

yes and add to that a weird pose and pout and this makes it a weird look. The dess is ok but a bit spoiled about all the headband and the rest

  13. Aisha_Iman January 16, 2011 at 19:45 #

Well, at 23, I’m a grown woman who totally still wears headbands(don’t judge!) So yeah, I’m inclined to disagree. I think she looks gorgeous, if a little twee.

    • Naomi January 16, 2011 at 21:38 #

I don’t have something against headbands in general, I just have a problem with this one, specifically.
It’s so… big, and all over the place. A single flat strap could’ve been great instead.

  14. Carolina January 16, 2011 at 21:24 #

    Weird pose.

  15. robbie January 16, 2011 at 22:02 #

she looks like a little girl raiding a fancy dress closet with that headband on. the dress is nice but doesnt wow me.

  16. asherlev1 January 16, 2011 at 22:17 #

Gahh. Why Eva?! This would have been one of my favorite looks ever if the headband hadn’t been there. D:

  17. KateS January 16, 2011 at 23:22 #

I have an irrational hatred of cute little bows on grown women – combined with the headband here, it’s just all too twee.

    • erin January 17, 2011 at 04:21 #

EXACTLY what i first thought. the colour is gorge, rip off the headband and that awful bow and it would have been lovely

  18. CreoleLady January 17, 2011 at 00:29 #

I thought of Empress Josephine or something out of Regency England, a Jane Austen heroine. OK, I may be mixing up these fashion eras (and way too imaginative) but that’s honestly what came to mind for me. Diaphanous yet demure. I’m not in love but am in like with this look.

  19. mochababe73 January 17, 2011 at 07:31 #

I love the color. The dress is just okay. But the headband…
It makes her look like a flower girl.

  20. D January 17, 2011 at 11:50 #

dont feel headband goes with her personality….

  21. Lola January 21, 2011 at 20:37 #

I don’t like her make up.

  22. Tina January 22, 2011 at 15:31 #
