Nicole Kidman In Nina Ricci – 2011 Critics’ Choice Awards

De Ja Vu Award
Nicole Kidman opted for a very demure look on the red carpet for the 2011 Critics’ Choice Awards.

She wore a modified Nina Ricci Spring 2011 gown. I’m wishing she wore the shorter runway version.

I really miss the glamazon that was Nicole Kidman.

All these navy long dresses are starting to roll into one.

The only thing interesting on this dress is the fringe detail draping from the shoulder.

Nicole accessorized with Neil Lane chandelier diamond earrings and Pierre Hardy black peep-toes.

Nic whats happening? you’re making the dress look like curtains totally unflattering..

  2. Alina January 16, 2011 at 11:06 #

    Quite uninspiring.

It’s funny you mention fringe detailing as the highlight, when that’s the only thing that ruins the look for me. But then I hate any fringe on red carpet dresses.

I thought she looked classy and demure when I saw her from the waist up. And again it’s just the critic’s choice awards, nothing huge.

Kidman was quoted recently as saying she wasn’t into fashion as much anymore as when she was younger. I think she’s trying to pull an Angelina Jolie and exude that effortless elegance in dark colors and come across like she doesn’t care. But I think she does.

This is a let down. She should have at least worn the dress shorter.

  5. msd January 15, 2011 at 23:45 #

This looks lifeless on her, it just hangs there. Very disappointing.

The dress is nice but boring. I’m hoping she wears either Lanvin or Prada to GG.

I think she looks pretty good. Love the navy blue on her.

I would’ve preferred the shorter version of this dress. The longer version messes with the proportions, and it isn’t too flattering. And I agree, this is a safe and boring choice for Nicole.

I agree. The exact runway dress would have been a perfect voom voom for Nicole. She tends to age herself with dresses.

she looks good, her shoes are pierre hardy slingbacks.

I miss the days of ruffled Chanel couture, red-bowed Balenciaga and that sheer crystal adorned asymetrical Tom Ford for Gucci she wore. Come back!

    • Fashion Critic January 15, 2011 at 17:16 #

      me too

I miss the days of the chartreuse Galiano and the lavendar strapless Gucci gown with the train and gigantic gold chandelier earrings. That’s when she was really styling. I hated that red bow dress and that crystal Tom Ford thing.

Kidman in chartreuse Galliano/Dior is one of my all-time favourite red carpet looks. Whenever I see a redhead wearing green I remember it.

the shorter version is better maybe she has vericose veins or something.

That dress looks great on the runway not so much on Nicole. It’s not that the dress itself isn’t interesting it’s that Nicole doesn’t know how to work it anymore, she’s just really frumpy and matronly lately.
    I like her hair tho.

    • Lils January 15, 2011 at 17:35 #

You summed it up pretty well but I would just add that her earrings are amazing!

  13. Joy January 15, 2011 at 16:35 #

Boring, as usual. Long gone are the days when Nicole ruled red carpets.

I saw her turn to the side, and let me say, this is the best shes looked in a long time. I love how graceful she looks. I just wish she would pose differently because she always looks awkward…a diffrent pose could transform any look.

  15. Paddy M January 15, 2011 at 16:27 #

Ah but take a look at a side view – the dress transforms! This photo doesn’t do it any justice either – there’s a lovely slit up her left leg and the drape detail is very interesting.

    • mol January 15, 2011 at 16:39 #

That’s true – I agree it’s better from the side.

    • Laura January 15, 2011 at 17:42 #

It does look better from the side. But a general red carpet rule: if it doesn’t look good from the front, don’t wear it!

  16. Jones19 January 15, 2011 at 16:26 #

Sigh…I miss the old Nicole Kidman, she knew how to shut down a red carpet.
