Michelle Williams in Oscar de la Renta – 2011 National Board of Review Awards Gala

Towards the end of 2010 Michelle Williams seemed to only wear white or ivory dresses, but she’s started off 2011 adoring black.

The ‘Blue Valentine’ actress attended the 2011 National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York City last night wearing an Oscar de la Renta dress from the Spring 2011 collection.

Her black guipure embroidered dress with nude underlining is classic Oscar de la Renta in that it’s a timeless stunning creation.

The dress has a tulip skirt, square neckline and cap sleeves, but it’s the added femininity via the black satin bow around the waist which perfects this look.

Christian Louboutin ‘Ole Ole’ satin platform pumps and a matching black satin Salvatore Ferragamo clutch complete this stunning look.

sensational! thi is the best michelle has looked in a while, for some reason she often annoys me, but i am loving her in this dress! i hope she still has it, and since she can’t wear it anymore she can ship it over to me!

  2. Emi January 13, 2011 at 08:41 #

No, cute dress but boring look. The shoes and the clutch don’t convince me.

  3. Saara January 13, 2011 at 07:20 #

If I wasn’t so bored with her style, I would love this.

  4. Victoria January 13, 2011 at 04:18 #

    BDOTW? Oh definitely. 🙂

  5. mochababe73 January 13, 2011 at 01:40 #

Wow! Two days in a row that I have liked something that Michelle has worn. Definitely a record for me.

  6. Emmeline January 12, 2011 at 23:36 #

Beautiful dress, but I agree with some of the other posters – this is getting stale.

  7. Elena January 12, 2011 at 21:15 #

    I hate it!!!!!!

  8. Camille January 12, 2011 at 21:00 #

Maybe it is just me, but it is getting hard to tell Carey Mulligan and Michelle Williams apart these days. Same stylist perhaps?

    • Fashion Critic January 12, 2011 at 21:28 #

I love your point. They are starting to resemble each other

    • Sharon January 12, 2011 at 22:52 #

I was just thinking the same thing!! Just a few days ago, Maybe FC is right and the same one-note stylist is dressing both of them. Too bad because they’re both beautiful women who deserve better.

      • Sharon January 12, 2011 at 22:53 #

Sorry, Camille – I should have given you credit for the same stylist theory and I definitely should be wearing my glasses!

  9. Camilla January 12, 2011 at 20:48 #

If you click on the Michelle Williams link and look at her past 5 dresses, they all seem to have exactly the same thing going on. Lovely dresses, but extremely similar…

    see i *adore* this look

  11. Pablo January 12, 2011 at 20:29 #

Please, Michelle, let this not be the start of my being bored by your style. And most importantly please don’t make me be bored by Oscar dela Renta… 😀

  12. nicole January 12, 2011 at 19:23 #

i LOVE THE DRESS!! I think its exquisite and classic but i dont like it on her for some reason

  13. Gigi January 12, 2011 at 19:11 #

Lately she is looking so constricted – so up tight in her clothes… I just want her to BREAK LOOSE!!! Be free, and poof up your hair a bit while you’re at it!

    • noo January 12, 2011 at 19:28 #

people used to attack her chanel couture look, that pink dress with poofy hair, your comment reminded me of that and i wish she would return to her more daring choices and bold colors 😀

BDOTW! I wish she would have kept her hair longer though :/

  15. Grace January 12, 2011 at 19:03 #

It’s hard to believe this woman who’s been giving us such boring, redundant looks is the same woman who wore that stunning yellow gown a few years ago.

  16. asherlev1 January 12, 2011 at 19:02 #

    BDOTW nominee for sure.

Man, I have a bunch of favorites now. This shall be tough. ~

for me too BDOTW and a hard decision 🙂

i can breathe, michelle is finally giving me some life, i was too bored with her other looks, but i’m liking this, i love the dress but it’s not working on michelle, i don’t know it’s too long or just don’t fit, it looks stunning on the model, not on michelle, but she’s going in the right direction, keep it up M

  18. mol January 12, 2011 at 18:50 #

She looks darling, but the shirt is too long and too big.

  19. noo January 12, 2011 at 18:35 #

the dress is too long and the bow is too long, i want to like it more but it doesn’t work for me at all

  20. samaira January 12, 2011 at 18:22 #

I sorta feel that the dress is a size too big on Michelle, the shoulder seems to be drooping and the skirt bit is a little off in the front too. Although I love the dress and had it been a better fit I would have loved it on Michelle too… 🙁

    • KateS January 13, 2011 at 01:00 #

I agree – a bit smaller and a tiny bit shorter (she’s so little) and I could have loved this.

I am just not excited by her anymore. I miss seeing her in colour. I feellike everytime I see ehr it will be muted colours, knee or high length dress or skirt, possibly a pattern most likely lace, cinched in waist, same hair, demure stlye, similar neckline. I am bored y it. I miss the yellow vera wang, I wish she would just do something fun for once.

      Couldn’t agree more.

  23. Vera January 12, 2011 at 18:13 #

Michelle made me love Oscar de la Renta.

    BDOTW, of course!

  24. maria January 12, 2011 at 18:12 #

i think it’s beautiful but it reminds me too much of the outfit of 2 days ago with the Wren skirt and Ricci top. Same lace cutouts.
i like her fall back to the fifties style but i wish she would mix it up with a pencil skirt and cardigan or something and not always the wee dresses.

  25. Ethne Blist January 12, 2011 at 16:53 #

I do not like the black clutch and black shoes. Pink bow pumps or a pink satin clutch would have been lovely. Black black black doesn’t work for me.
