Jennifer Lawrence who stars in the upcoming ‘X-Men: First Class’ movie, attended the 2011 Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala in California this weekend.
She was there to receive the ‘Rising Star Award’.
Jennifer looked beautifully colourful on the red carpet wearing an Oscar de la Renta Spring 2011 dress.
The black and azure posy print stretch cotton dress was worn with the same runway black leather corset belt and black Roger Vivier Scoubidou woven patent sandals.
She dazzled wearing a Cartier platinum, diamond and onyx Panthere bracelet and a Cartier white gold, onyx and diamond orchid ring.
Maybe I should add her to my Ones to Watch in 2011 list.

She looks lovely. You are right she should be in the Ones to Watch in 2011 list. I will add her to my personal list with Haille Steinfeld and Deborah Ann Woll.
I know is a bit late but welcome back FC, I missed you in Christmas!!!
thank you xxx
The dress looked perfect on the runway.
Superb hair, amazing shoes and necklace and I just love the way it moves.
It falls flat on Jennifer. The shoes don’t do cut it, neither do the hair and she her pose is awkward.
It’s still an amazing dress, but such a waste.
so true!
Sorry I do not know this person so I could be wrong and she could be in her late 30-40′s but I think the way this dress is styled is far too old for her. The runway picture jewelry is far more fun. I would be the first one to snatch a diamond panther bracelet -my friend owns a few and I get wrist envy when she wears them -but it doesn’t go with the dress at all. couldn’t Cartier have given her something fun and dress appropriate?
She doesn’t look like she’s 30/40. Even with that dress.
The dress on the model looks better. It’s shorter and the straps are thinner. Overall the dress makes her look fuller than she is.
I’m not saying she looks 30-40 in the dress. I am saying that I thought she was in her 20′s and if so the dress styling is too old for her. If I was wrong and she was older eg 30-40- and who knows now a days- then it was more suitable-dull but more suitable.
She is the new kid on the block and this certainly wont be the last we see of her as she is going to be a full timer during awards season.
I always love blonde against blue
BTW her heels are Roger Vivier Scoubidou Woven Patent Sandals
thanks for the tip
I think it would have worked better with her hair in a ponytail.
I agree, a ponytail would have made it more alive and youthful
It’s a lot of look and I’m not sure she pulls it off. I kinda picture a look like this for Sarah Jessica Parker. Nice to see a bold color like this on the red carpet though.
Yeah, we’ll definitely be seeing a lot of her as she is one of the Oscar front-runners for her amazing performance in “Winter’s Bone.” When she has made appearances before, her hair has always been wavy or curly or given some body… which works much better with the shape of her face. I’m not digging the straightened hair. The straight hair/ dress combo makes her look older than she is. (She’s only 20)!
I think she looks great! Women under 35 can wear Oscar de La Renta- it is possible! FC, put Ms. Lawrence on your list
I know it is possible but given I just bought a stunning Oscar dress and jacket on sale at 50 percent off and I still almost fainted at the price I wonder how anyone under 40 can afford them.
Oh, you were talking about the price factor. Gotcha.
the color is nice on her and i like her choice of shoes, but she doesn’t look entirely comfortable in the dress, and the hair is blah. wish she’d gone for a different belt as well. and someone please work with her on her posing.
The hair kinda ruins it, makes it very blah and generic but she does look great and the colour is great on her. It’s just not very exciting.
I like that she’s a healthy slim figure and that she isn’t trying too hard tho.
She’s one to watch for sure.
I adore ths look, it i beautiful dn vry promisng or a red carpet begginner, other than the fact I would pull the hair up and change the pose it is lovely to see someone so enthusiastic and trying so hard on the red carpet!
I actually had no idea who she was, and as I scrolled down through uninspiring looks, BAM! She gave me a pop of life that actually made me scroll back and read her name.
It’s a very cute dress that makes me forget I used to wear that type of belt with the wrong garments. Also, I’m sure she would look better without the bangs, just straight hippie hair.
But we are not truly judging that—so magnifique.
Jennifer Lawrence is most definitely on my radar and I think if the comments by her stylist on Cathy Horyn’s blog last week come to pass this awards season, she may very well shake the red carpet right up.

Martin-I am so glad you copied this article. I thought of this website when I read it but couldn’t cut and paste it.
I also tried to get the original article she refers to in the New York Mag but couldn’t find it.
I’m not sure I like her look here, but I’m so thrilled to see Jennifer Lawrence on your blog! She’s such a talented actress – I’m rooting for her for an Oscar nom (Winter’s Bone) – and she’s got the goods to shine on the red carpet if we give it some time, as we did with Carey Mulligan. A stylist, a personal trainer, more free designer clothes … she’s going to hit it big!
I love the dress, but I think that at her age, ,she should have worn it above the knee. I love the X-Men movie, and I hope that she does it justice.
