Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: December 2010

American actress Elle Fanning is the younger sister of actress Dakota Fanning.

She is known for her supporting role in ‘Babel’ and for her main role in ‘Phoebe in Wonderland’, but this year she was in the spotlight for her new movie, ‘Somewhere.’

Elle has 4 movies coming out in 2011, so with big sister off to college all eyes will be on Elle in 2011.

American actress Jessica Chastain has an amazing 9 movies coming out.

She’s stared alongside the likes of Helen Mirren, Al Pacino and Brad Pitt (she plays his wife in “Tree of Life” which will open at Cannes next year).

This year she was on the cover of W Magazine’s “IT girls”, she received the “rising star” award at the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards plus she was invited by house of Louis Vuitton to attend their Spring 2011 show.

Swedish actress Noomi Rapace is best known starring in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, “The Girl Who Played with Fire” and “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest.”

Her big movie in 2011 is playing the role of Sim in the upcoming film “Sherlock Holmes 2″, plus she has 4 other movies in the pipeline.

She has impressed us by wearing Alexander McQueen, Balmain and Elie Saab on the red carpet, which is unheard of for an actress who is so new to the red carpet.

We will be seeing a lot more of these actresses in 2011.

Natasha Poly may have appeared on more international Vogue covers than any other model this year, but the real cover star for 2010 were the Miu Miu Fall 2010 appliqué dresses.

It seems that fashion editors all over the world fell in love with both the sunshine yellow and lilac Miu Miu dress as they appeared on covers simultaneously in the UK, US, Mexico, Australia and Sweden.

The rush happened in August with other publications following in September, October and November.

Whoever loaned out these dresses at Miu Miu got a big fat raise.

It was a PR masterstroke.

I think every single celebrity in Hollywood wore a pair of J Brand “Houlihan” skinny cargo pants this year.

Trendsetters like Rihanna, Leighton Meester and Rachel Bilson were spotted wearing the pants alongside many others including Gwen Stefani, Julianne Moore and Renée Zellweger.

The cargo pants became the alternative to denim jeans as celebs added a touch of military-chic into their closets.

Net-A-Porter were re-ordering the pants every week as they would sell out the second they were added to their site.

You can still buy these cargo pants from Net-A-Porter US (reduced in the sale), Net-A-Porter International and Browns Fashion.

With Katy Perry and Rihanna opting for demure red carpet looks, the only real competition Lady GaGa had this year was Nicki Minaj.

Nicki gave GaGa a run for her money, but Lady GaGa was light years ahead serving up a meat dress by Franc Fernandez plus custom looks by Giorgio Armani and Francesco Scognamiglio.

One has to wonder how Lady GaGa will outdo herself in 2011 as the shock factor is already starting to wear thin on some of you.

Personally I admire her creativity on the red carpet. Her day-to-day looks on the other hand are ridiculous.

Runner up: Nicki Minaj

No one got you touch typing or two finger tapping on your keyboards more than Blake Lively this year.

She was the only star to often receive over 100 comments per post.

We discussed does she have a stylist? Are her breast real? Did she have a nose job? Why does she always rip from the runway? Why does she always have to have her legs and/or boobs on display? Does she have the girls from Vogue selecting looks for her?

Many of you have got into very heated debates even switching to your mother tongue to express your point.

Love her or loathe her we always have something to say about her.

FYI: I love her.
