Another gorgeous year. To think I didn’t even know your blog existed 12 months ago… now I can’t imagine life without it! Thank you for your tireless work to bring us the best from the red carpet and runways around the world. I hope you had a brilliant Christmas and enjoy yourself over New Year. Look forward to lots more in 2011! xx

  2. X. Crespo December 26, 2010 at 04:47 #

Cate is Cate and it is not even her gorgeous dress that puts her on the #1 spot in both lists, but how she carries it.

She’s simply royalty. THAT’S how you wear a dress of such caliber.

Everybody I know seemed to utterly hate Zoe’s Oscar’s dress, when she looked stunning! They even called it fug! Blasphemy! Givenchy is just… GAH. A damn good GAH, I might add!

And if innocent, romantic love were to be shaped into a woman, she would be wearing Anna Kendrick’s dress. Definitely deserved to be up there.

    Impeccable taste.

Cheers for a 2011 full of jaw dropping looks and colorful.

And God saves us from this seismic activity! O:

This is probably my favorite comment of the year.

  3. _danny (aka the modman) December 26, 2010 at 03:52 #

Sorry for the three comments, dealing with some major internet problems. Feel free to delete any two! Happy holidays!

  4. _danny (aka the modman) December 26, 2010 at 03:51 #

Cate Blanchett in vintage Christian Lacroix is hands down number one. Then Dree Hemingway in Valentino Couture and Gwyneth Paltrow in Atelier Versace to round out the top three. Would have loved to see Tilda Swinton! Oh well, thanks for sharing, as always! :]

  5. Estranged December 25, 2010 at 21:31 #

I completely forgot about how amazing Dree looked. Diane, Kate and Rose were on my list too. I’m very much surprised about Anna Kendrick making it onto the list in this particular dres. Never thought about her. Anyway, thanks for an amazing year and I can’t wait for the next.

  6. Jones19 December 25, 2010 at 19:35 #

I knew you’d pick Cate for first place! She’s my choice too. Merry Christmas and thanks for the fashion coverage this year. I became an avid reader of your blog in the past year and I will continue to stop by in 2011.

  7. Modeuse December 25, 2010 at 17:26 #

I definitely agree with you, I mean, there were a lot of beautiful dresses and you picked 10 beautiful outfit. R. McGowan in the top ten is such a great choice, that beautiful gown really deserved it. Happy holiday, FC.

  11. Sophie December 25, 2010 at 15:41 #

  12. Kathy December 25, 2010 at 15:11 #

Cate Blanchett and Fan Bing Bing really deserve to be in your list!

  16. Ellie December 25, 2010 at 08:30 #

I’ve gotta say, thanks for everything FC. You’re kinda awesome.

I have one question though, and I know I’m probably one of the few that thinks this, but what is it about Gwyneth’s dress that made it a hit? When I saw it, I went ‘blah’ even though I agree with pretty much EVERYTHING you say. And then it made it to the top 10 of the year! What is it that made it so good that I’m not seeing?

    • Fashion Critic December 25, 2010 at 12:13 #

      Thank u 😉

I think it’s 60% her beautiful dress and 40% her confidence and attitude.

She can be seen as boring and that wasn’t the case in this dress

  17. Ayesha December 25, 2010 at 08:30 #

    • Fashion Critic December 25, 2010 at 12:14 #

    • Alina December 27, 2010 at 09:07 #

According to , model of the year seems to be Lara Stone.

  30. mol December 24, 2010 at 20:11 #

#’s 1, 3, 5, 6 and 10 were ones I agonized over and found hard to leave off my own top ten choices. In the end though I had to stick to my personal aesthetic, but I really do think you acknowleged dresses that were truly great and worthy, which I love. In aworld of naught or nice, I bet. You’re at the top of his ‘nice’ list ; ) xxx

    • mol December 24, 2010 at 20:12 #

I meant ‘santa’s ‘nice’ list (on a bumpy car ride!)

  31. Marvel December 24, 2010 at 20:05 #

I mus say FC I am surprised of your list. I would have betted that Longoria in Pucci would be there but I’m glad you are unpredictable 🙂

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a Fantastic New Year.

  32. Arabic-Fashion December 24, 2010 at 20:04 #

WoW , I like your list..
Thank you FC for this site , You worked a great effort this year..

  33. Jennifer December 24, 2010 at 19:31 #

Bit gobsmacked that Rose McGowan made it in, over all the Jennifer Lopez and Eva Longoria looks, and Danni Minogue’s X Factor Final dress! But Cate and Zoe are def deserving top two, and dellighted that Dree is in. Merry Christmas FC xxx

  34. Hannah December 24, 2010 at 19:28 #

What an absolutely beautiful list! I have noticed that almsot all the gowns are fluid, aka silk or chiffon, and there is a lot of two-toned and ombré going on too! Fan Bingbing is still ym favourite, but any of your picks could easily have won, and although I wasn’t teh biggest fan, although I still loved it, I am glad you picked Dree, which is a very unique and unexpected chocie, in that it wasn’t a gown or a classi cdress, if that makes sense. I am looking forward to you bringing al teh fabulosity in 2011, it might be even better than 2010!
2010 has been a great year for me, adn I hoep it has been for you too. I honestly can’t say tahnkyou enough for all your incredible work, your posts are always intelligent, articulate, elegant, hilarious and simply a pleasure to read, and how you do that multiple times a day is beyond me. Have a wonderful chrismas!

  36. Leo December 24, 2010 at 19:09 #

Loving that almost everything in this list comes from couture. And there’s Issa which is a kinda relaxed brand in the middle.

FC… what can I say… well yes… THANK YOU, for your amazing work another year.
I remember, during the London Fashion Week, you said one of the bad points was that many of the fashion crews of the magazines didn´t even say ‘hello’ when they perfectly know you… I think you don´t need it, you are by far the best fashion blogger I´ve seen.
Thanks again for this wonderful site. Take care and rest to give us more on 2011!! Kisses from Spain.

I knew some of these dresses were going to make your list (Cate, Zoe, Fan Bing Bing, Gwyneth) but others did catch me off guard (Anna’s Elie Saab, Dree’s Valentino Couture) but all worthy choices. Great Job FC and can’t wait for the New Year and Awards Season!!

  48. Laura December 24, 2010 at 18:09 #

Beautiful looks. Cate Blanchett is obviously my fave from this list. I’m going to remember that dress for a long time. Also, I really like your choice of Kristin Davis. It’s not a typical red carpet dress by any means, and I’m glad you included it.

Great pics FC! And I can’t wait for your award season coverage. I hardly watch the awards shows themselves anymore. I’m just online waiting for your next show. To me, award shows are more about the fashion than who wins what. 😛
