Anne Hathaway took the lead and never looked back in this week’s Best Dressed Of The Week poll.
She looked radiant wearing Oscar de la Renta to the Nobel Peace Prize Banquet in Norway this week and you all agreed.
Her Roger Vivier clutch perfected her angelic look. After a few mishaps on the red carpet Princess Anne was back.
I loved Kate Bosworth in Jil Sander.
I know many of you hated this look, but I think she looked outstanding and pulled the minimalistic look off perfectly.
I’m glad she didn’t feel the need to accessorize this look.

How to Achieve the Classic Blowout

I’m 100% in agreement with you on this one Fashion Critic. I thought she looked fabulous and did complete justice to Raf Simons’ vision. I found it quite interesting that you loved this look so much given your general preference for ornate, elaborate, embellished and “showy” gowns. I was certain you’d go for Dannii Minogue this week. Guess it goes to show that when minimalism done perfectly, is very hard to beat.
I understand you slight confusion as you know I adore OTT gowns with sparkles and sequins, but every now and then something as simple as this blows me away.
And because of this I love your blog even more!!
yay i voted for kate, i thought she looked absolutely stunning.
Oh, I totally understand where you’re coming from. Particularly when it is pulled off so spectacularly as Kate did this week.
Gwyneth Paltrow would’ve been a much better example of successful minimalism on the red carpet imo. I don’t like KB, never have, never will. She’s just not original, nor interesting, nor important enough for that matter, even though she desperately tries to be…
Anne Hathaway, stunning as usual though!
I’m one of those that hate the Jil Sander look. I voted for Anne so I’m happy
her pink lip was also spot on!
oh, here you go!

supposedly this is just one of several she wore?
Is not about hating it because is it isn’t and horrible vision, it is just the same problem as ever with this type of skirts: you love them and then you have a nighmare trying to match it with something. It doesn’t work for me. My reivindication to Ressee’s dress, so nice!! (but I agree she should have done something with the hair, even a ponytail would have been better than her choice!!)
I dunno- I just can’t feel anything for Kate’s look here. . It’s bold, and it’s original, but it just doesn’t go anywhere for me.
Well chosen!
FC, it would have been my natural instinct to put a simple skinny belt on Kate’s outfit, just to hide the join..would this in your opinion ruin the look?
For me yes.
The look only works for me as the designer intended. Pure and simple
Thankyou SO much for choosing Kate. I LOVED the collection, like many editors (or atleast hsi is what I am gathering from websites and magazines) it may be my favourite SS 2011 collection. She is theonly other person than Fan Bingbing in the dragon dressin contention for my personal BDOTY. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and have a lovely rest of the week – less than a week for christmas – maybe father christmas got you the Leopard print Giuseppe Zanotti’s you asked for
!
I hope you had a great weekend too.
Looking forward to reading your comments and seeing who you pick as best dressed of the year next week.
Kate looks good only from the neck up. That Jil Sander dress just looked cheap to me.
Anne looks good. Neither was my first choice, but I think that Anne deserved it.
YEAAAAHHHH i was sad seeing kate so behind in the poll and so i hoped you would pick her because i really really looooove her look
and now im happy, becuase she deserves it, its amazing
thanks for agreeing with me hihi
and btw i like your taste
Lol….I’m glad someone agrees with me
i loved Anne’s dress its just perfection.
i still cant stand kates dress it still looks cheap to me. but going from the comments here and online it was split 50/50 with people either loving it or hating it. but i didnt like the collection from jil sander anyway,
hope everyone has a safe and Merry Chirstmas!!
I was very split and I’m glad you can appreciate that.

This is why I love your blog so much FC!
You re definitely not a one trick pony that’s for sure…
She was for me the best dressed of this week as well, modern, soft but edgy at the same time, and the styling was spot on!
I find her very interesting, like her Jonathan Saunders look, so good! I wonder who her stylist is..
Thank you so much for, once again, your excellent work, reading your blog is an every day excitement even after a few years!
So glad to hear that my blog is a daily excitement for you. That is a very sweet xxx
Happy holidays xxx
Anne’s dress is beautiful and she looks stunning in it. I could never like Kate’s dress nor the collection from which it comes. It looks like a home-made skirt worn with her brother’s white T shirt (underwear). It is minimilism taken to the point where there is a complete lack of style.
Kate wears it well , but come on, best dressed? I looks like a poorly made outfit and the color is bland.
I think that you have had a little too much Eggnog FC (;
As much as I appreciate simple minimalistic looks, I’m just not feeling this particular one on Kate, probably because her white t-shirt looks so cheap (literally) for that gorgeous skirt. But I voted for Anne so I’m happy that she won.
Someone explain to me what is the appeal of Kate Bosworth and her fashion? Is she another one of these “red carpet starlets” the kind who aren’t doing much on the movie screens so they think their job is to show up on red carpets and wear “chic” outfits and get talked about. She thinks she’s so stylish but she’s not. She TRIES to be stylish. This look just epitomizes that because she thinks she’s looks so chic and minimalist, but she does not pull it off. It just looks cheap.
Anne Hathaway by default.
