It feels so strange to have a “Girl Crush” on a teen actress, but I’m loving Elle Fanning’s style at the moment.
She’s gone from cutesy princesses’ dresses, to adorable Marc Jacob dresses, to Valentino Couture, to edgy Rodarte in a very short space of time.
With each look she’s not trying to be anyone she’s not, and she’s not trying to look older than her 12 years.
I love her how angelic Elle manages to look in her Rodarte tan suede and gold leather embossed dress.
I wouldn’t advise stars to steer too far away from the Rodarte runway styling, so I’m not surprised to see Elle stick to the same white see-through socks, and Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte metallic gold embossed wedge heels which we saw on the runway.

i can’t say i like the shoes on elle — the ‘edgy’ look feels far too contrived on her, but she is totally adorable in that dress

loving her at the moment too. she’s got great style for such a young girl.
I don’t like this as much as her Valentino look (which was amaaazing), but I’m liking all her looks a million times more than I’ve ever liked Dakota’s looks. Maybe it’s the fact that she mixes it up with her hair?
I agree with your advice to not steer too far from the runway styling when it comes to Rodarte, and I think Ellie looks fab here.

Great dress choice but there’s something ever so slightly creepy about a pre-teen in huge heels like those. Too literal for my tastes.
I don’t like it when they take looks straight off the runway. It’s too stylist-like.
If anything, I’d say it’s less stylist-like. A great stylist will mix and match looks, this is just lazy – they basically logged onto to style.com, clicked around and then went ‘that one’.
And those shoes are still creeping me out, she may look older but THIS GIRL IS 12! Somewhere out there in the big old internets, there are guys who love this photo for totally different reasons.

I agree, and there’s something particularly creepy about a pre-teen all dolled up but also wearing little girls’ white socks. The dress works surprisingly well, but I think the look would have benefited overall from a hand from a good stylist with an eye for age-appropriateness.

I think I was shopping at the Limited Too when I was 12 LOL! She really is one of the most stylish teenagers out there.

Please PLEASE consider ehr for best dressed teen of the year FC. I LOVE HER. She dresses well, not try hard, not growing up too fast and so talented (my memory of babel). I love this look, she is very brave, and looks beautiful!

A great look for her but I must ask, are socks built in the shoes or is it detachable
a 12 year old’s dress should never be that short and her heels never that high.
I don’t like the runway styling for her, it makes her look older in a bad way with those shoes. It could work with nude or gold pumps.
I can’t believe that she’s wearing Rodarte and is giving it a cute, girly feel. I love it, and she has a great stylist.
First Keira and now Elle, the red carpet is rocking with Rodarte Spring/Summer 2011. She wears this better than the model in my opinion – with a sense of youthful exuberance and chic casualness. Love. It.
