British actress Carey Mulligan was in Dubai this weekend to attend the Opening Night Gala of ‘The King’s Speech’ during day one of the 7th Annual Dubai Film Festival held at the Madinat Jumeriah Complex.
She opted to wear an Erdem ‘Lila’ dress with a ‘Daphnis’ print from the Resort 2011 collection.
This dress which reminded me of the Christopher Kane Resort 2011 dress she wore to the 2010 Toronto Film Festival “Never Let Me Go” Premiere.
I’m surprised she would wear dresses that are so similar.
Carey’s crop seems to have grown out quite quickly because she was able to sport an updo for this event.
You’ll also notice that Carey’s hair colour is now pretty much the same platinum blonde colour as Michelle Williams.

I don’t like anything in this look. The hair looks like a wig, and she seems waay older than she really is :/

I have yet to see an erdem dress that I don’t like. IMO carey’s biggest problemis accessories, she picks a beautiful dress almost always, and I therefore believe she does nto work with a stylist (please correct me if I am wrong). I do love her delicate little necklace, but not with a gown with a high neckline, with a shorter dress with a slightly lower neckline i would prefer it, with this dress beautiful, preferably black earrings and a cocktail ring hand on hip would be my idea of perfection.
I think the dress is not flattering on her and I think she looks awful. Platinum doesn’t work on her as it does Michelle Williams/

ha ha! This is one dowdy look.
Very drab, she doesn’t even look excited with how she looks. I’m still trying to wrap my head around why Carey is considered such a fashion maven because I feel like she gets it wrong much more than she gets it right.
for a young girl she sure does look OLD! not even slightly old she looks twice her age.

You’re right, when I first saw this dress I thought “Oh, she’s wearing another piece from the Christopher Kane resort collection, she must love it”, but not the case! Weird. The hair really doesnt suit her, I also don’t like how brushed looking it is, almost dead. It needs a bit of a wave or something. The colour washes her out. She suits a dirty blonde.
The only problem-her hair color. I liked the blonde before, but this blonde clashes with the dress and makes her look wash out.

A singular one doesn’t begin to describe how awful she looks.
Everything is wrong. The pancake make-up, hairstyle, hair color, posture. I think that this young woman wants to look dowdy. I won’t even say old because my 80 year old grandmother wouldn’t go out of the house looking like this.
Even if you overlook the granny hair, colourless makeup and drab dress, what really kills her looks is her lack of personality in her photos. Is the expressionless face and gormless pose supposed be a trendy, alternative look? I really do not get this woman. A little smile wouldn’t hurt…
This look is horrible! I don’t know which is worse – the wig looking hair, the blue bra showing in the armpit area, the unflattering cut of the dress, or the fact that it is a tad too tight..?

Carey herself has stated she hates her hair now, poor girl. She cut and bleached it b/c she was told to and its never been the same since. I hope she darkens it up a bit and it grows out some more, because its the only thing ruining this look.
Sorry but I think she’s overrated.
