Liv Tyler In Christian Dior – Dior 57th Street Boutique Re-Opening

Liv Tyler also attended the Dior 57th Street Boutique Re-Opening in New York City last night.

She wore a Christian Dior Fall 2010 asymmetrical chiffon mini dress with cascading ruffles.

The dress is beautiful but I really dislike the way Liv presented it to us.

If Liv was that cold she should’ve really considered picking another look. Lord knows she had plenty of options from the Fall collection. Not all of them were chiffon dresses.

I call this a classic case of a beautiful dress brought down with a black long-sleeved top and thick black tights.

It’s like watching a TV on mute.

And, yes, it’s unbelievable that R. Zoe approved such a mess, even if sometimes I don’t like her choices, this look is terrible.

This is a kinda fashion crime, a lovely dress worn with a black tee, I agree, if she was cold she could choose a warmer outfit. The necklace is stunning but really unnecessary, here, because of the asymmetrical dress, I don’t like overdressed look. Do you know the brand of the necklace?

    • Fashion Critic December 10, 2010 at 10:37 #

      It’s also Dior

  3. Saara December 10, 2010 at 06:09 #

Noooooo! That black top is horrific! And the necklace doesn’t help either.

I like the dress, but it’s too short, whispy, and bare for this time of year.
Not real sure why she decided to ruin this pretty dress with this styling. I believe that Rachel Zoe is (or maybe was) stylist. What was either of them thinking.

God it is even sadder to think that without the necklace, adn the top and the tights and ankle boots (might excuse the tights) she would ahve looked flawless.

  8. laura D December 9, 2010 at 21:07 #

Uh… What on earth was she thinking? The outfit would have been better without the dress!

  9. dee December 9, 2010 at 19:57 #

    This is awful.

  10. mol December 9, 2010 at 19:13 #

I’m sure Liv will file this under pictures of me I truly regret…….hugely bad!

  11. karen December 9, 2010 at 18:33 #

Maybe Rachel Zoe’s pregnancy hormones is affecting her styling.

  12. JJovana3 December 9, 2010 at 16:28 #

Dress is not that cute either. I dont hate it, but I dont love it. It is winter time after all.

  13. D December 9, 2010 at 16:26 #

    okay im upset now

  14. Vicky December 9, 2010 at 15:37 #

The black top and tights make it look like she’s wearing a body suit under the dress. Not cool.

  15. Pablo December 9, 2010 at 15:26 #

This is so bad, I keep asking myself if there’s a solid explanation… like Liv having the pox all over her body or something… cause this can’t be real! 😉

  16. Marvel December 9, 2010 at 15:16 #

I could have lived with the tights, but the top??

To be fair, that dress is quite hideous by itself

  17. Moxie December 9, 2010 at 15:13 #

This deserves a spot on the WDOTY list along with those dresses worn by Katie Holmes, Marion Cotillard and Juliette Binoche (you know the ones, FC). It is a crime what she did to this ethereal dress.

    • Fashion Critic December 9, 2010 at 15:16 #

      unfortunately yes 🙂

  18. Rachel December 9, 2010 at 15:13 #

Worst styling ever! Doesn’t she work with Rachel Zoe?! I like the dress and the necklace, but the black top ruins everything!

  19. Eva December 9, 2010 at 15:11 #

She really makes it look as though she’s wearing a body stocking underneath, doesn’t she? A pity.

    • Fashion Critic December 9, 2010 at 15:16 #

      it does, you’re right

  20. ruth December 9, 2010 at 15:09 #

someone call the cops because liv just killed this dress.

(corny, yes. but as bad as what liv did here? no)

  21. Kelly December 9, 2010 at 14:58 #

That’s disgraceful. That was one of my favorite dresses from the collection, too.

If I remember correctly, Liv used to be wonderful on the red carpet years ago. What happened?

  22. Melissa December 9, 2010 at 14:55 #

I refuse to believe Rachel Zoe would do that. Did she change stylists??

  23. Lee Ann December 9, 2010 at 14:54 #

How funny. I just sent this picture to my friend who has the necklace-only 1 in London . She was horrified because not only did she ruin a beautiful dress she ruined a stunning necklace which retails for around £5000!!. She should have more respect or wear warmer clothes.

    • Fashion Critic December 9, 2010 at 15:18 #

It a gorgeous necklace, but Liv didn’t wear it well.

It like she wore it to cover the top or something 🙂

      • Lee Ann December 9, 2010 at 15:21 #

The neclace doesn’t work with the dress which doesn’t work with the black t shirt. having said that at the Dior event in Paris i attended a few weeks back it was so cold one of my friends was wearing thermal underwear under the same black dress that Blair is wearing. HOWEVER no one saw it.

WTF?? And thats all I have to say.

    • manja December 9, 2010 at 18:41 #

      hahaha ditto that

  25. june December 9, 2010 at 14:39 #

i could have lived with the tights and even the giant necklace if she hadn’t worn that long sleeved top

  26. cartouche December 9, 2010 at 14:32 #

just the tights would’ve looked okay but that shirt confuses me.
i love liv so this is sad to see..

  27. mm December 9, 2010 at 14:31 #

    LOL, i agree

  28. robbie December 9, 2010 at 14:16 #

wow what a way to ruin a gorgeous dress.

  29. Dowie December 9, 2010 at 14:15 #

Liv is a beautiful lady but what a waste of a beautiful dress. your last line pretty much sums up she killed it.

  30. aiyu December 9, 2010 at 14:15 #

She completely ruined a beautiful dress, and don’t get me started on the necklace….she should take some lessons from Dree Hemingway
