Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Most Dramatic Award
With Rihanna going sophisticated in Elie Saab Couture and Katy Perry going romantic in Badgley Mischka, someone had to bring the drama to the red carpet at the 2010 American Music Awards in LA tonight.

Cue Nicki Minaj who took the red carpet by storm wearing a Manish Arora Spring 2011 dress.

I say dress; it’s more like a piece of art.

One has to wonder how she managed to sit in this dress.

I think she totally pulled it off. It would be really easy to get lost in this dress.

Pleasant Surprise/Most Romantic Award
I was really surprised by Katy Perry’s look at the 2010 American Music Awards in LA tonight.

Mostly because it wasn’t something quirky, loud in colour or making a statement.

Instead she opted for a soft feminine romantic look by wearing a Badgley Mischka Spring 2011 strapless dress.

The details on her petal georgette dress are exquisite.

Despite it not being what I expected she looks beautiful. I like that she can go from a crazy to a sophisticated look and pull them both off with equal aplomb.

Best Brand Ambassador Award
Jada Pinkett-Smith continues to be the perfect brand ambassador for Peter Dundas’ Emilio Pucci creations.

Tonight at the 2010 American Music Awards in LA she rocked the red carpet in a custom-made creation.

I love the mustard colour of Jada’s Emilio Pucci Spring 2011 rise and fall gown with a tiered skirt.

The gold bodice gives the look more of a sexy diva-like attitude which Jada totally pulls off.

She went a little matchy matchy with her Louboutin Tinazata heels and gold glitter clutch, but it’s a head-to-toe perfect look and much preferred on the red carpet to the runway version.

Best Re-Run Award
Jenny McCarthy looked super sexy on the red carpet at the 2010 American Music Awards tonight in LA.

The actress opted to wear a Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2010 dress which we’ve already seen on the red carpet before, so it was initially really hard for me to get excited about this look.

On reflection I think she totally rocks it and gives the dress a new lease of life.

Her asymmetrical silver and turquoise sequined dress was paired with black Christian Louboutin Catenita peep-toes, a silver clutch and a super high quiff.

Best Dressed/Most Improved Hair Award
This time Rihanna IS wearing Elie Saab at the 2010 American Music Awards tonight in LA.

You may remember the singer incorrectly name checked the designer at the EMAs when she was actually wearing Marchesa, but on this occasion she wore a gown from Elie Saab’s Fall 2010 Couture collection.

I know I said the same thing for Miley, but this is one of Rihanna’s best ever looks.

Thank god she toned down the hair colour.

This more subtle shade works perfectly with her scarlet gown with subtle floral detailing. The brighter colour would not have worked.

I would’ve expected something more wild and crazy from Rihanna tonight, but I’m not disappointed with her look.

She looked sexy, sophisticated and fearless as always. I’m so happy to see a look from that Couture collection on the red carpet.

BDOTW contender for me.

Most Improved On All Fronts Award
I have to say this is the best I’ve ever seen Miley Cyrus.

I absolutely adore this look.

The young singer made her way on the red carpet in LA tonight for the 2010 American Music Awards.

She looks surprisingly cute wearing a Marchesa Spring 2011 mini dress.

Her chiffon strapless dress has a floral illustration, beaded details, and a large bow detail on the back which has a train flowing from it.

It wasn’t just the dress I loved. I also loved her hair and make-up.

For once everything was working at the same time.

Kudos to her.
