The Spring 2010 red Halston boat neck epaulette dress was presented during New York Fashion Week.
We’ve seen it worn twice on the red carpet by Jennifer Lopez and Alexis Bledel.
The popular dress has been used for inspiration by ASOS as they have a very similar ASOS tailored drummer girl tulip dress on their virtual shelves in 3 colours.
The dresses share the same colour, tulip pleated skirt and epaulette detailing, but the ASOS version has added military style button detailing.
The Halston version would set you back $1,326.50 as it was reduced in the Net-A-Porter US sale, whereas the ASOS version is a mere $79.30.

I love the reduced version. I think they stayed quite true to the original and it is still tailored and cute. What do you think FC? Would this be in your closet?
It’s too short for me, but I do like it
Going with ASOS here.
I hated this dress on both Jenn and Alex and I think it might be the extra detail under the breasts that makes this look WAY to busy.
GOOD look-a-like! Like them both
xx.
LOL, I knew that dress reminded me of something when I was browsing ASOS yesterday and saw it!
I definitely love that it isn’t a strict knock off, and I think the result is even better than the original design. Whether the quality is as good is of course, a separate issue.
Right now I am addicted to online shopping at Asos! lol. Love almost all of their dresses
me too, but they are always too short for me
You could always add tights
grrrrrr…..
LOL. Only on a day like today when it’s snowing.
I love the Asos version. The extra epaulette on the boobs on the Halston dress killed it for me.
I’ve always appreciated ASOS take on high end dresses, it’s always beautiful and this is no exception.
i prefer the ASOS “version”, it’s cuter, maybe because I like the golden buttons. When it comes to a brand like this I have to say that it depends on the fit and the fabric. Sometimes I see Zara or HM clothes on a magazines but they’re not so cute when you see them because the fabric is poor or the fit terrible.
