Joanna Hillman is the senior fashion market editor covering American and British ready-to-wear for American Harper’s Bazaar.
Before Harper’s Bazaar she worked at Teen Vogue and assisted stylist Lori Goldstein.
During Fashion Week the style bloggers go crazy for her downtown New Yorker style.
I saw her many times during Spring 2011 fashion week and I always noticed her trademark Raybans, bold red lips and long blonde hair which was styled into a Wang/Miu Miu plait.
She’s a very stylish lady. Her outfits always stand out and are very well put together and perfectly accessorized.

Her favourite bag during Spring 2011 fashion week was her white Balenciaga bag.
In the first look she teamed her bag with an Alexander Wang jacket, 3.1 Phillip Lim lace dress and YSL shoes.
A simple white tee and long black skirt has a lot of personality when paired with a colourful Suno jacket.
Layering is key when it gets cold in New York and my favourite look from Joanna is the preppy look.
This look included a Marni jacket over a Chloe blazer, which was paired with 3.1 Phillip Lim pants and Loeffler Randall shoes.

She’s also not afraid of bright colours and loud prints.
Another great look was her two-tone 3.1 Phillip Lim jacket which she paired with gold sequined J Crew pants and a Proenza Schouler bag. You’ve gotta have a lot of style to pull this off during the day time.
Joanna often mixes feminine dresses with chunky ankle boots and on this occasion she added a cross-over bag.
Her Band of Outsider striped skirt is to-die-for. A khaki silk skirt, Derek Lam bag and Tory Burch peep-toe ankle boots makes the look effortlessly chic.
I love animal print so I find myself also lusting after her 3.1 Phillip Lim “Knap Sack” tote. She carried this tote whilst wearing terracotta cropped pants, a blue and white shirt and Miu Miu heels.
Do you like Joanna’s style?

Love her style!
She looks fantastic – some brave choices there but pulls everyone single one off!
I wanna be best friends with Joanna!
ditto.
yeah i like her
because as you say shes not afraid of bright colours and loud prints… and red lippie
Big Fan of her style, she looks so cool. I too love my Rayban wayfarers.
I love this look not picture here of her in a blue sweater dress, miu miu platform sandals and mawi necklace.
My favorite are the last two looks. She makes a white handbag look great.
I do wonder if she ever smiles in her pics?
You know I adore you FC for bringing such awesome articles. I think it takes a lot of hard work and passion for your work to be so perfect.
I Love Joanna’s style and every single piece of fabric she has on her i want Santa to have a hard look at
thanks for your appreciation samaira.
It’s comments like this that make me work harder, so thank you ;*
Well said Samaira!! I also adore FC’s Style Spotlight posts!!
Thanks xxx
I’ll try to do them more often.
The red carpet gets super busy
Love that 3.1 white lace dress and the striped skirt with khaki blouse look is to die for! Loving HIllman’s style, have been following her for a while now.
hate her “style” but love her bags, especially the balenciaga bag.
you never like anything I post. All your comments have the word hate in them.
Lol!you tell ‘em FC!if robbie has such perfect style then they should us!!the 3.1 phillip lim looks both the dress and jacket outfit are perfection..my fav designer wish cheryl would start wearing him again. FC babe neve got to ask u if you got anything from lanvin & hm?have a gr8 weekend hon
yes I was lucky a Brent cross didn’t have much of a queue.
How can someone who reads this blog hate her style!!(??)!!..She has obviusly a sense of style and a lot of creativity which reflects her personality!
love the suno jacket and the band of outsiders skirt
she’s seriously giving olivia palermo a run for her money in the new york style stakes
how have I never heard of her before!!!
( ps. LOVE the pleat, I used to have pleats in every day when I was from 2-8!!!!)
OMG she wears such chic clothes so easely.
If I could be another person, I’d be her! <3
I love this kind of article, and I love this choice! Joanna seems so chic and easy, yet her choices always seem to be tweaked with a fun twist – I adore her use of the blazer in almost all of the looks shown – especially when she doubles them up….thanks F.C. for introducing me…..
my pleasure x
Here’s a suggestion for your fab blog that I LOVE
As someone with great fashion sense as yourself, I suspect that you love your make up too
so how about a ‘Red carpet Beauty’ section, reviewing products and trends xx
thanks for your suggestion, but unfortunately I don’t know anything about beauty
I love her sophisticated and chic style, much better than other stylists out there!
Fabulous style. Love her use of prints but not overuse of prints. I love her red lip lip. And I’ve surprised myself. I even like her tights in that picture despite my loathing of Hollywood’s overuse of them.
My fave looks were the top one, the first one in the second row, and the last two.
Nice style! Nothing shocking, but she looks well put together!
Now this woman has style. I didn’t recognize the marni jacket and I could probably enter mastermind with marni as my specialist subject.
She’s with no doubt has a style but not everyone can pull those kind if look. The Alexander Wang jacket, 3.1 Phillip Lim lace dress,YSL shoes, and Balenciaga bag is the easiest regular people like me can pull off.. O wonder how FC looked every day, pretty much like her or…..?
I wish
Thank Goodness for her clothing, she looks like she doesn’t have any personality, all the images have the same facial expression in them. I love her style though.
I love this!! Her style is impeccable! Fanstastic work FC!
Thank u xxx
Her style is very wearable. She is the sort of lady you can pick up ideas from and she really knows how to wear a jacket. I would love a peek in her wardrobe!!!
I love her style, really inspiring, because is not excessive, i mean, we can dress those ways to go to work, to have a drink with friends…I particularly like her Wayfarer (I love mine, too!!) and her rd lips. I particularly like the first, the second and the fifth look. How old is she? She looks so young and she’s so experienced in fashion business, did she start working when she was a child?
loving everything from the 2nd row,and the1st one from 1st row.but she does seem to have same facial expression and not doing much with her hair,it is always swept to one side….but all in all I like her style, thx for introducing her to me
good god!! she’s amazing!
i disn’t know her! but now thanks to you i do!:)new style icon!!!
just looked her up on rex features
there’s a pic of her in a glam gown with Mellisa George and another pic is her in a bright blue blazer and clogs combo! ( the clogs were brown by the way!)
I like her style. Some of her looks wouldn’t be something that I would wear, but I love to look at it.
Now, I have to add her to the list of fashionistas that I like to Google.
I’d love to see what she would put together for the red carpet.
love her style! she’s given us 8 completely different looks, each one totally refreshing. i don’t think i’d change a single accessory on any of them! i only wish celebrities could consistently be this creative and inspiring. i look forward to being educated with more ‘style spotlight’s in future!
brilliant site btw fc! i think it’s now the only website that i have regularly visited everyday for the past 6 months! keep up the good work
xx
thanks Jennyw.
I’m glad you love my site and feel inspired by it.
FCxxx
Would it hurt her to crack a smile? Jeezis.
I absolutely adore Suno.
Also recently came across an emerging designer’s page, Shellina, who uses Khanga Sarongs she grew up wearing in Tanzania to bring her designs into life. Her designs are much more modern than Suno’s. Amazing! here is the link to her fb page. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mremeaux-by-Shellina/104654682928751
