Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Roberto Cavalli’s Spring 2011 chic bohemian collection celebrated the designers 40th year in the business.

To celebrated he had top models walking the runway like Natalia Vodianova, Erin Wasson and Laetitia Casta.

This collection which was inspired by a 1970s hippie girl in Los Angeles, that hung out with rock stars.

What do rock stars love? Fringes. Cavalli added fringes to everything.

We saw them on maxi dresses, jumpsuits, hip-hugging bell-bottoms, maxi skirts, leather jackets and bags.

The colour palette wasn’t as loud as I was expecting as the designer gave us muted grey, lilac and nude with few chocolate looks added to the mix.

Python and animal prints were of course presented with a few looks dazzling with sequin and crystal details.

Many people were expecting a retrospective show, but who knows he may do something like that before the end of the year.

The models looked like hippies with their flat ironed hair and smokey eye make-up.

Key accessories included fringed necklaces and fringed bags.

Front Row: Taylor Swift, Leona Lewis, Rachel Bilson, Heidi Klum and Elisabetta Canalis

Favourites: The chocolate brown fringed ensemble with pailette covered pants and the sheer embroidered dress

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Megan Fox, Taylor Swift, Heidi Klum and Jennifer Lopez

Olivia Wilde looked divine as walked the red carpet for the LACMA “The Unmasking’ Of Resnick Pavilion Opening Gala this weekend.

The actress wore a breath-taking Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2010 gown.

Her nude crystal embroidered tulle strapless gown with ruched bodice and a full skirt.

I love this look even though it very much reminds me of Olivia’s 2009 Golden Globes gown.

A red clutch for a bold pop of colour would’ve perfected this look.

Asian actress Carina Lau was one of the celebrities in the front row for the Salvatore Ferragamo Spring 2011 presentation.

She wore an embellished Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2010 tunic with black tights.

The gracious star was happy to pose with my iPad which had the last post I did of her from Venice Film Festival.

Claudia Schiffer has to be one of the tallest women I have ever met and I’m 6ft 3in in heels.

The German beauty opted for a chocolate Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2010 turtleneck sweater dress with a leather/suede Ferragamo bag.

I do like this look despite being too Fall-like for a mild day in Milan, but I don’t like the black boots.

Full on chocolate brown would’ve been preferred.

Salvatore Ferragamo’s Spring 2011 collection was relaxed collection embracing minimalist luxury.

Nothing too dramatic, nor over-the-top nor sparkly. Just relaxed comfortable pieces which wouldn’t be out of place on a safari vacation.

Most of the pieces were loose allowing plenty of movement on the runway.

Despite seeing so much colour in Milan I did love the muted colours which dominated this collection.

Nude, biscuit, caramel and white was presented alongside eggplant, teal, olive, turquoise and one light denim look.

Start hitting the gym now because you’ll need washboard abs for many of the cropped tops.

We also saw maxi dresses, crochet swimsuits, safari jackets, bikinis, pant suits, mini dresses, peasant dresses and evening gowns.

Luxe head-scarves were worn with almost every look.

Other key accessories include leather bags, croc bags, crochet bags, belts, strappy sandals with gold details and sunglasses.

Front Row: Claudia Schiffer, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Carina Lau

Favourites: Lemon pant suit with cropped knit top and eggplant maxi dress

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox, Dree Hemingway, Carina Lau, Poppy Delevigne, Claudia Schiffer and Emmy Rossum

Nicole Richie also attended the opening of The Lynda & Stewart Resnick Exhibition Gala held in LA at the LACMA.

She opted for a dramatic Marchesa Fall 2009 gown.

The black and white tulle gown with a wired edged embroidered detail is stunning, but I don’t think it works on Nicole.

I personally think she’s too short for this dress, as I prefer the length on the model.

I also think the dress has lost some of it’s puffiness.

Sorry but this gets a big thumbs down from me.

The Versace Theatre had been turned into a playground for the Versus Spring 2011 presentation yesterday evening.

It had rustic swings, a roundabout, a slide, a climbing frame and the usual runway was replaced by grass. Real grass.

The sound of kids playing and laughing was heard in the background as we waited.

A school bell rang to signal the start of the show as the first model walked out.

We were first presented with a variety of tartan dresses. Then floral prints dresses, a mixture of both and stripes.

To close Christopher Kane and Donatella Versace presented colour block dresses.

We saw shorts, cardigans worn on shoulders, pleated skirts, pencil skirts and dresses with sexy cut-out details.

The accessories included satchels, strappy sandals and booties with cut-outs which all the same colourful prints as the dresses.

Favourites: Tartan mini dress and blue ensemble with a striped skirt

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and Leighton Meester
