Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: September 2010

Rebecca Hall joined Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Blake Lively for the Boston Premiere of “The Town” last night.

The British actress looked very stylish wearing a Bottega Veneta Fall 2010 dress.

Her red nappa leather top has a contrasting pink silk twill skirt creating a lovely two tone look.

It’s such an interesting unexpected pick for Rebecca.

I love that she’s opting for colourful looks lately, but I can’t help be uninspired by her footwear choice even though they are Nicholas Kirkwood.

The Marchesa Spring 2011 presentation took place today at the Chelsea Art Museum.

As usual I was in my element.

The collection narrates an Oriental journey filled with hand painted silk drapes and ornate hand embroidered jeweled accents.

The palette consisted of smoked sky, opaque oyster, mint and rose blush on silk, tulle, organza and laser cut silk crepe.

I marveled at the structured jeweled peplum’s with cinched in the models waists.

A blush pink strapless gown with the peplum and black embroidery was exquisite, much like the black and pearl ombre strapless tulle gown and the midnight blue strapless silk tulle dress with a floral print.

Other interesting details were the perforation which I’ve seen in a few presentation this week.

Feathers of course featured as they do in most Marchesa presentation.

The romantic allure of this collection was evident.

The tulle gown above was made for Anne Hathaway.

My feelings for Eva Mendes changes by each red carpet look ranging from Wow to meh.

Her looks have been very so-so the last few outings, but she seems to have stepped things up a notch for her promotional tour of “The Other Guys.”

On Monday she arrived at the Moscow Premiere looking drop dead gorgeous wearing a buttercup Zac Posen Resort 2011 dress

The colour is gorgeous against her caramel skin tone.

For the London Premiere on Tuesday she wore a Prada dress.

The green halter dress with embroidered beading was paired with purple pumps and a pink floral Prada clutch.

Loving everything excluding the clutch.

For Monday’s Russian photocall ever wore a very sexy RM by Roland Mouret dress

The copper and black coloured v-neck cocktail dress hugs her beautiful curves.

I torn between the Zac Posen and the Roland Mouret.

Which is your favourite look?

Tibi’s Spring 2011 collection was all about beauty and classics with a thoroughly modern twist and styles that comes with simplistic ease.

It was hard to pick a favourite because I want every piece in my closet right now.

This totally wearable collection included a crochet sweater dress, tiered coat, mid calf strapless dress, tailored jacket, bloomers, cropped tops, high waisted pants and a wide legged jumpsuit.

There was a lot of texture in this collection from the basket-weave, to crochet to embellishments on shoulders and laser cut leather appliqué on skirts and coats.

Key accessories included brogues and wedges.

Front Row: Olivia Palermo

Favourites: Mustard cami with matching wide legged pants and knitted sweater with taupe shorts

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Blake Lively, Olivia Palmero, Whitney Port, Maggie Grace, Brittany Snow, Vanessa Hudgens, Miranda Cosgrove and Kristin Cavallari

Yigal Azrouël’s Spring 2011 collection was fresh, feminine with a bit of an edge.

The collection focuses on the concept of layering as an illusion, where subtle contouring and precise definition frame elongated and linear silhouette.

On a colour palette of mostly white, grey, lemon and black we were presented with drawstring leather shorts, sharp-shouldered white blazers, a black tuxedo and lots of sheer camisoles.

I love every piece.

I can imagine models and downtown hipsters wearing this collection next summer.

Key accessories included thonged sandals in white, black, and yellow and pearl necklaces.

Front Row: Greta Gerwig

Favourites:
Lemon silk crepe de chine cropped blouse over a lemon silk dress and the oyster blouse with grey shorts

Who I See Wearing This Collection:
Erin Wasson, Chloe Sevigny, Christian Ricci, Cameron Diaz, Leighton Meester, Kristen Stewart and Taryn Manning

I’m almost totally speechless.

This is why I love Cate Blanchett.

No one could’ve worn this archival Christian Lacroix Haute Couture gown from Decades with the same poise, grace and elegance.

This fit for a Queen deep burgundy gown is embellished with shimmering gold crystal sequins.

I’m totally in love and in awe of this look.

I think it’s safe to say nothing is going to top this for me this year.

Nothing.

Repeat after me. “We are not worthy.”

Cate Blanchett is currently in Beijing for SKII as they announced their new “Live Clear” campaign.
