I was excited to view Sally LaPointe Spring 2011 collection during New York Fashion Week.
It was her first runway show and even though I didn’t know much about the designer I wanted to show my support.
I was really surprised that so many people attended the show. It was more packed than some more established designers presentation, so she clearly had good word of mouth.
If you are tired of the nude and pretty dresses we’ve seen on the runway so far, Sally LaPointe will provide the perfect antidote.
The show started with two male models marching through fog and opening giant doors from which the models would take to the runway.
The edgy fashion designer presented an visually stunning collection which was the perfect mix of beauty and distortion.
She was inspired by the intoxication of madness to create opalescent silk dresses, dresses with exaggerated hips, black horsehair pantsuit, white organza high collared jacket, jumpsuits, opalescent silk cuff shorts and metallic organza tees.
This maybe too avant garde for some, but there were some wearable pieces within this collection.
For me this was a throughly enjoyable presentation.
The key accessory in this collection was Sally’s flower platforms which seemed to make some of the models nervous to walk in, but I’m happy to report that no one fell.
Favourites: Black horsehair pantsuit and black metallic top with green metallic skirt
Who I See Wearing This Collection: Rihanna, Kylie Minogue, Lady GaGa and Cate Blanchett
I love glamour and embellishments as much as the next girl, but there is something about sophisticated suit on a woman like Jennifer Connelly that blows my mind.
The actress is currently at the 2010 Toronto Film Festival promoting her new movie, “What’s Wrong With Virginia.”
She wore a black tuxedo jacket with a black suede belt to nip in her waist, with some shorts to give her look a less conservative vibe.
I really love this grown up chic look.
Satin lapels always adds something to a simple black suit.
Dita von Teese is currently in Sydney, Australia fulfilling her duties as the Cointreau Global Brand Ambassador.
She arrived at the “Be Cointreauversial” event where she was performing wearing a deep plunging Jenny Packham Fall 2010 dress.
I do like the striking dress which is covered in red paillettes and has a red sash wrapped around her waist, but am I alone in thinking this white is too white for Dita’s porcelain skin?
Matching red Louboutin heels and trademark red lips complete her look.
