Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: September 2010

Sarah Jessica Parker was in the front row at the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2011 presentation seated next to Anna Wintour.

I was 2 rows behind her so I got to see her up close.

She’s just as adorable, petite and as animated as you would imagine. Such a cutie.

Of course she was wearing Oscar de la Renta.

Her navy moon print silk chiffon ruffle dress was paired with a black/white diamond tweed cropped jacket from the Resort 2011 collection.

Black heels and a silver bag completed her look.

I much prefer the jacket she paired with her dress over the runway look.

The venue for Oscar de la Renta Spring 2011 collection was held in a venue which looked like a church. This was appropriate because I worship everything that Oscar creates.

This collection was no exception.

The show opened with a floral coat worn by the current campaign girl Karlie Kloss.

Each look was more beautiful and extravagant than the last.

We saw everything a woman wants from elegant day dresses to three piece suits to cocktail dresses and of course the red carpet ready gowns – thank god Rachel Zoe was in the front row.

All the model sported very Carrie Bradshaw-esqe high tight buns with their make-up kept fresh with strong blue eyeshadow.

Key accessories included corseted belts, clutches and large chandelier earrings.

Front Row: Sarah Jessica Parker

Favourites: Check tweed pocket dress, pink flamenco style gown and the peony silk faille and ivory threadwork embroidered gown

Who I See Wearing This Collection:
Anne Hathaway, Sarah Jessica Parker, Anna Wintour, Lea Michele, Eva Mendes, Kyra Sedgwick, Cameron Diaz, Charlize Theron, Zoe Saldana, Freida Pinto, Rachel Weisz and Jessica Biel

Eva Longoria has been wearing a lot of black lately, but it’s been good black.

At the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s 33rd Annual Awards Gala she looked beautiful wearing black Gustavo Cadile Spring 2011 gown.

The black gown with bow detail and draped back looks beautiful on the gorgeous actress.

Although this is an amazing look, I would still like to see more of the colour Eva.

Girlfriend knows how to work a gown.

Eva looked chic on the red carpet at the Second Annual Rally for Kids with Cancer Scavenger Cup Press Conference in Miami.

Her second Gustavo Cadile Spring 2011 dress was a white silk cloque boatneck sheath dress with navy piping.

I like her dress but wish it was more fitted around the waist like on the model.

I would’ve also liked to have seen her wearing navy heels to complement the details on her dress, but she opted for black satin Ferragamo peep toe pumps.

I’m glad to see her supporting a Latin designer, especially at a Latin event.

Isaac Mizrahi’s Spring 2011 collection was called IM Xerox as his prints looked like they’d been photocopied.

We saw very soft and feminine pieces, but he also incorporated some flirty sexy looks.

On a very mixed colour palette we were presented with long chiffon floral dresses, evening gowns, cocktail dresses, day dresses, silm pant suits, silk maxi skirts and shirts.

Key accessories included collars, clutches, and bracelets.

Front Row: Veronica Webb

Favourites: Embellished short sleeved dress and corseted gown with tulle overlay

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Michelle Obama, Marisa Tomei, Paula Patton, Veronica Webb, Kyra Sedgwick and Michelle Monaghan

The shocker of the week was André Leon Talley who didn’t sit in his usual front row seat. Instead he watched the show from the last row in the Theater.

Has he fallen out with his Vogue colleagues who were either in the first or second row?

Na, I’m assuming he just wanted to focus on the clothes. It can get a bit hectic with photographers in the front row trying to take pictures and others trying to claim front row seats.

Rebecca Hall’s seems to like wearing red on the red carpet.

At 2010 Toronto Film Festival premiere of “The Town” she wore a red and black strapless YSL Resort 2011 jumpsuit.

Her daring look was paired with YSL black patent minaudiere and YSL Tribute sandals.

Rebecca seems to have broken out of her shell during this promotional tour and I’m liking the new direction.

Her looks are usually meh, but she’s taking risks this time around and spoiling us with bright colours.

We’re always asking for something different and here it is.

Ralph Lauren’s Spring 2011 collection was held in a very glamorous location downtown.

The cowgirl theme was evident very early on with the big belt buckles, suede fringing and cognac leather.

We were presented with ruffled coats, crisp white blouses, crochet cardigans, suede fringed pants, maxi skirt with web-like beading, deerskin jackets, beaded vests and jacquard halter dresses.

This collection had everything a wealthy cowgirl would wear during the day and at night she can slip into a silver beaded slip dress or gown. She can stay true to her cowgirl roots by wearing the evening dresses with large buckle belt as some of the gowns were presented.

I loved this collection for its refined elegance with contemporary sophistication.

The key accessories included cowboy hats, large buckle belts, bowler hats, fringed shoulder bags and leather bags with a silver bulls head.

Favourites: Fringed beaded skirts and slinky platinum tulle beaded dress

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Laura Hutton, Kerry Washington, Mariska Hargitay, Taylor Swift, Olivia Wilde and Jessica Biel
