At today’s Alberta Ferretti Spring 2011 presentation I was seated in between Byran Boy and Anna Dello Russo.
Talk about about making me a fashion sandwich.
The true style icon that is Anna Dello Russo was the sweetest person I’ve ever met.
I think she remembered me from London when I took her picture because she smiled and said hi to me before taking her seat.
She was wearing an off-the-shoulder YSL Spring 2010 dress which is embroidered with strawberries.
I had to ask her about the hat. She said she likes to come up with something different.
So many people take her picture that she doesn’t want anyone to look at a picture of her and think “oh she’s done that before”.
I think she takes her “job” as a style icon very seriously, but in a very tongue-and-cheek way hence the cherry hat.
When I asked her what’s next she said “fromage”.
Now that will be interesting.
Whilst in Milan she will be styling for Moschino so therefore she may not have the time to take in many other shows.
She told me that she’s very much looking forward to Paris. I’m looking forward to seeing her cheesy hat.

My goodness. Hospital gown with a cherry on top. I can’t imagine anything less flattering. “Style icon”? Really? Can’t remember anything about her or past looks, but there’s nothing here that impresss me in the least. This is one of those “do you have a mirror?” moments for me.
AGREE 100%
Anna Piaggi wear this kind of look since the 70′s and is a style icon indeed, why can’t she be a style icon too?
I love Anna Dello Russo ’cause is SO different from all the others stylist and journalist that works in important fashion magazines. She always smile, to EVERYONE and wears something that brings joy all around her.
How cool! This is not my favorite look from Anna. But she wears those runway looks well! I definetly love to see what she wearing.
so who made the hat?
front row. Yey! Go fashion critic!!
This look really needed a belt to pull it in. Hospital gown is right.
Yeah, she looks way too wide without the black belt. And we know she’s not wide.
She is a style icon and is photographed to death in the sartorialist and what not . Daily Mail readers may never have heard of her but fashionistas certainly have. Having said that I think she always looks fairly ridiculous and the blog The Emperor’s Clothes recently wrote a blog entitled “what’s the point of Anna Russo?”
Maybe the belt and different pose would’ve helped, but as it is right now it’s just ridiculous.
Love her extravagant style and her cherry hat
Don’t like though how she wore the YSL dress without a belt. It looks shapeless..
Wow, Bryan boy and Anna Dello Russo, what an amazing place to be. I adore and admire Anna dello russo, always original (sorry to be cliché) and she always looks so happy and like she cherishes what she does, so refreshing. I cannot say I love the dress, but I am sure it would have been amazing and the hat is beautiful.
I have to agree with Molly – I’ve seen Anna wear some truly stunning outfits, but this definitely isn’t one of them!
Amen, sister!
It woud have given her a waist if she belted it like the model.
I don’t get her. If she wasn’t an editor everyone would think “What a crazy old lady!” looking at this picture.
I like Anna, but I hate this.. Way too try-hard. Reminds me of Lady Gaga a little, whom I’m not a big fan of.
I’m highly amused by the cherry hat… but the dress truly looks like a hospital gown without the belt.
I will admit my fashion ignorance; I had to Google Anna Dello Russo. Now that I know she is fashion editor of Vogue Japan, I couldn’t be more surprised that she would appear on a runway looking so … ridiculous. The dress is completely unflattering, but I rather like the hat.
Hey! Now that you are on fron row I think it is about time for YOU to start showing us your looks ; )
I’m way too shy for that
Pleaseee, pretty please! With a cherry on top! Hahaha
*front
I do love the dress, but it’s crying out for a belt – looks soooo much better ont he runway as a result.
OMG!
A crazy patient has escaped her war!!!
My first reaction to this was a resounding “YIKES,” but it is quickly growing on me. I really like the cherry hat, but I agree with Lou- the belt really made the outfit. Without it, it looks kind of like she has a bed sheet draped over her.
while i will never like this dress, one has to give her credit on still being able to surprise us each time.
The hat is adorable, and it surely would have been the funnest thing to be sitting next to her – it sounds like you completely enjoyed it, much envy!!
she’s a lot of fun
She’s one of those people who always looks like she’s trying too hard.
