Had Mary Katrantzou’s Spring 2011 presentation not featured her trademark vibrant prints I would’ve been very disappointed.
She didn’t let me down.
Her energetic prints and structured pieces lit up the former Eurostar terminal at Waterloo station this morning.
The show was titled “C’est ci nes pas une Chambre” (This is not a room).
It takes its cue from the surrealist world of Rene Magreitte and inspiration from the graphic interior sets of Guy Bourdin and Helmut Newton iconic fashion shoots, to the inner environments found in Architectural digest.
It was like Mary stripped that room to create this collection.
A window frame is focus point on the bodice of each piece creating strong shoulders and providing a great view.
Curtains are used to add flowing movement to structured dress.
Victorian lampshades created tge most beautiful skirts with dangling beaded and crystal details.

Key accessories included candlestick holders as necklaces and Christian Louboutin colourful wedges.
I know we have still have Milan and Paris to go, but this collection will rank in my top 10 of the season.
Breath-taking, colourful and truly memorable.

She really i sone of my favourite designers, she goes form strength to strength, and has never, as far as I can recall, had a week collection. Absolutely stunning.
So creative, love all the prints.. My favorite is the look with the shorts and all the wedges. FAB! Anna is still on a roll
I love the shoes!!! Are they by Katrantzou as well?
Louboutin
Wow…Louboutin is getting more playful…And wedges too!! They look so sweet!!
LOVE the lampshade skirts! especially the floral one and the bead fringed one. everything about the collection is amazing and those wedges *drools*
AMAZING! i haven’t been that exited for a while!
my lord fc, you’ve gone straight from new york fashion week, back to london and to the london fashion week without taking a breath! how do you even do it without collapsing?
I don’t know how I do it either.
Milan on Wed
that’s insane
Milan on Wednesday?! Deep breath, FC.
OMG this was a beautiful show, I love her use of the window to create a pictorial space, and it’s not just a surrealist influence, it has a renaissance feel to it too (I’m thinking of the many paintings Titian did with young courtiers leaning on a window frame and looking out to a landscape beyond, and of, despite all the color and graphic details, the strong sense of balance she has put to everything). The clothes are like stage sets become dresses, I really love her work and of course, Anna would be there, the collection is perfectly suited to her, Chloe Sev could wear it too.
Some of these dresses just scream Cheryl Cole
with several changes for real life…i like these mix of colors and textures, they remind me a bit on nicolas ghesquiere for balenciaga!
i like specially the second, third and fourth ones!
i think asian actresses would rock these pieces on their red carpet
this collection is such a breath of fresh air. and those wedges need to be in my life STAT
I think Anna Dello Russo wears a Roberta di Camerino bag too. However this collection is so unique, very impressive!
What an interesting show. Katy Perry is pretty much the only one I can see wearing the lampshade skirts IRL but they are very cute.
I also love the jewellery, as per usual. As far as I know her jewellery is made (or somethinng like that) by her parents. I am finding it impossible to find a single aspect I do not like of this collection.
Love the prints! Great job with the closeups. The candlestick holders remind me of Beauty and the Beast gone couture.
I’ve not really heard of this designer before but I’m really impressed! The stuff looks amazing. WIll be interested to see if any celebs can pull if off for red carpet looks.
Are they deliberately going for a straight out of a Auschwitz look.
