Donna Karan Spring 2011

The sand on the runway at the Donna Karan Spring 2011 presentation was clearly an indication to the colour palette for this collection.

Sand, biscuit, nude and light grey made up the colour palette.

The venue was packed and photographers were jostling for a spot but the second Karlie Kloss walked out everything became serene and tranquil.

Each piece was more elegant than the last and felt as light as air as they fluttered down the runway.

We saw off-shoulder gowns with high slits, wrap jackets, red carpet gowns and shirt dresses.

There was a lot of ruching and crushing of the materials to give the pieces a raw natural earthy feel.

The models were fresh faced with slightly tousled updo’s to complete their look.

Key accessories included wooden platformed heels and ethnic bangles.

Front Row: Susan Sarandon, Ashley Greene and Vivian Wu

Favourites: The finale gown and the chiffon dress with the ruffle trims

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Susan Sarandon, Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, Halle Berry, Emmy Rossum, Penelope Cruz, Jennifer Aniston and Ashley Greene

Love Donna Karan as always. The simple elegance and fluidity in the way these clothes moved simply blew me away.

Reminded me a bit of Issey Miyake’s crumpled fabrics, very very beautiful collection, would love almost every piece…..

I think the next 6 months are going to be full of nude and neutral gowns, as you have shown us a plethora of designers using these tones this Fashion Week. Much as I love them they are starting to merge into each other, I hope the stars and stylists can see through them to find some colour as well.
