On first glance I thought Gemma Arterton looked really plain at the “Tamara Drew” London Premiere.
But within a blink of an eye I fell in love.
Her Grecian goddess look is very simple allowing her inner and true outer beauty to shine.
Sometimes I crave diva glamour so much that I forget simplicity is just as beautiful.
Her Gucci Resort 2011 white jersey front knot gown was paired with Gucci tan beige satin and natural straw clutch.

BDOTW contender!
absolutely gorgous… no doubt, she’s the most beautiful woman in the world.
I admire her so much for not wearing any (visible?) make-up. She looks stunning!
She’s wearing makeup, but she’s kept it light and natural looking.
She looks absolutely stunning!
stunningg. she doesnt look like she has makeup on at all! very subtle beauty. this is simplicity done well!
WOW! Beautiful.
drop dead gorgeous. i wish i looked like that with only a tiny bit of make up on! beautiful gown as well.
she’s one of the most beautiful actresses of her generation and needless to say she has much more class and elegance than many.
Agree.. BDOTW contender… Simple yet Stunning..
Loved your commentary and agree 100%! (I notice that part of what makes this work so well is her relaxed, yet perfect, posture)
She’s dangerously beautiful.
really cute, specially the clutch, maybe the make up could have been better.
I’m pretty sure she has no make up on at all – no trade mark dark lip. And thus, I have good reason to be envious as she looks drop dead gorgeous without a stitch of make up on.
BDOTW nominee for me.
Gorgeous! I’m looking forward to Tamara Drewe – totally surprised that Stephen Frears was the director! I liked the book and the movie as well cast. Gemma is getting better and better on the red carpet.
Wow!! A peaceful and natural beauty. I admire her.
Does she have an stylist?I find it hard to believe that any stylist would allow her wear to such a “clean” dress with almost no accessories or make up. I love the look though! I only wish she would’ve a bit more colour on her lips.
BDOTW contender!
Cute
She does look absolutely gorgeous but a necklace or some large earrings wouldn’t hurt.
She looks gorgeous!!
Understated glam at its best!!
one word…gorgeous.
Wow!! She’s looking divine! This is a look I personally would really kill to achieve…so natural, simple and yet stunning!!
She looks stunning, but i miss some color on her lips
BDOTW!
She is drop dead gorgeous, and even without any visible make up.
Not a stitch of make up. I hate her
I never noticed how much she looks like a brunette Dianna Agron. She looks amazing.
I think this is a contender. I always choose simplicity over glam any dyay. Gemma looks amazing and just love the minimal accessories/make up there is. Beautiful, and perfect to a T.
it works, but its too simple it comes across as lazy
Sometimes the simplest looks take the most work to pull off correctly.
Simply gorgeous, and so very elegant!
little makeup and not too done hair AND still looks like a tall drink of water. I hate her.
VB take note-this is what elegance looks like
I like her in the dress. I’m not wowed. I like the clean, fresh face, but I think that she needed the bold lip.
I’m trying to figure out if there is a way to recognize these Venice looks. There are at least six or seven looks, including this one, which could easily win BDOTW in any other week. May be best overal red carpet of the year or something.
This week it is going to be just too hard. Of course, this is a great problem to have, no?
Very elegant, and a great choice on her leggy, athletic body. It shows off her beautiful face and shoulders. BDOTW-worthy.
I love it! I adore it! She looks flawless!
BDOTW contender for me!
SO BEAUTIFUL!!!
i wish she had used the same clutch as the model.
Love the frock. I’m all for a natural look, but a subtle swipe of black liquid eyeliner would have put this into the stratosphere for me. As it is, a 9 out of 10 and I think definitely BDOTW worthy.
This week is going to be tough! Great posting FC!
Have you got room in your NY suitcase for me?!
damn it already landed, otherwise I would have tried to sneak you in
Stunning. Absolute, simple perfection.
Make-up-wise she’s wearing light coverage foundation, concealer, highlighter, eyeliner, eye-shadow, mascara, blush, and lip stain. It’s all there, but it’s been applied with such a deft touch that it serves only to accentuate her beauty, rather than to hide flaws (the latter of which, she appears to have none). Make-up artists will often tell you that it takes more products to create a flawless “natural” look than it does to create smoky-eyed glamour. The trick it to use perfectly chosen colours and a light touch (working with a natural beauty doesn’t hurt either).
Blah for me. She needs something with her hair or makeup that commands attention. The gown is beautiful, she is beautiful but together–there’s nothing to focus on. I say thumbs down on this one.
