“Tamara Drewe” London Premiere – Gemma Arterton In Gucci

On first glance I thought Gemma Arterton looked really plain at the “Tamara Drew” London Premiere.

But within a blink of an eye I fell in love.

Her Grecian goddess look is very simple allowing her inner and true outer beauty to shine.

Sometimes I crave diva glamour so much that I forget simplicity is just as beautiful.

Her Gucci Resort 2011 white jersey front knot gown was paired with Gucci tan beige satin and natural straw clutch.

I admire her so much for not wearing any (visible?) make-up. She looks stunning!

    • Moxie September 7, 2010 at 19:56 #

She’s wearing makeup, but she’s kept it light and natural looking.

  4. Joy September 7, 2010 at 15:09 #

    She looks absolutely stunning!

  5. nicky September 7, 2010 at 15:13 #

drop dead gorgeous. i wish i looked like that with only a tiny bit of make up on! beautiful gown as well.

  8. Ashley September 7, 2010 at 15:36 #

she’s one of the most beautiful actresses of her generation and needless to say she has much more class and elegance than many.

    • Rashmi September 8, 2010 at 07:55 #

Agree.. BDOTW contender… Simple yet Stunning..

  9. mol September 7, 2010 at 15:37 #

Loved your commentary and agree 100%! (I notice that part of what makes this work so well is her relaxed, yet perfect, posture)

  10. maria September 7, 2010 at 15:38 #

    She’s dangerously beautiful.

  11. sara September 7, 2010 at 15:46 #

really cute, specially the clutch, maybe the make up could have been better.

  12. Jennifer September 7, 2010 at 15:50 #

I’m pretty sure she has no make up on at all – no trade mark dark lip. And thus, I have good reason to be envious as she looks drop dead gorgeous without a stitch of make up on.

    BDOTW nominee for me.

  13. pipsqueak September 7, 2010 at 15:58 #

Gorgeous! I’m looking forward to Tamara Drewe – totally surprised that Stephen Frears was the director! I liked the book and the movie as well cast. Gemma is getting better and better on the red carpet.

  14. nat September 7, 2010 at 16:01 #

Wow!! A peaceful and natural beauty. I admire her.

  15. sara September 7, 2010 at 16:08 #

Does she have an stylist?I find it hard to believe that any stylist would allow her wear to such a “clean” dress with almost no accessories or make up. I love the look though! I only wish she would’ve a bit more colour on her lips.

  16. Rachel September 7, 2010 at 16:11 #

    BDOTW contender!

  17. Kim September 7, 2010 at 16:17 #

    Cute

  18. Lisa September 7, 2010 at 16:22 #

She does look absolutely gorgeous but a necklace or some large earrings wouldn’t hurt.

  19. Lei September 7, 2010 at 16:40 #

    She looks gorgeous!!
    Understated glam at its best!!

  20. dee September 7, 2010 at 16:52 #

    one word…gorgeous.

  23. nina September 7, 2010 at 18:36 #

    BDOTW!
She is drop dead gorgeous, and even without any visible make up.

  24. Marvel September 7, 2010 at 19:20 #

Not a stitch of make up. I hate her :)

  25. Ally September 7, 2010 at 19:27 #

I never noticed how much she looks like a brunette Dianna Agron. She looks amazing.

  26. Kimi September 7, 2010 at 19:40 #

I think this is a contender. I always choose simplicity over glam any dyay. Gemma looks amazing and just love the minimal accessories/make up there is. Beautiful, and perfect to a T.

  27. JJ September 7, 2010 at 19:44 #

it works, but its too simple it comes across as lazy

    • Moxie September 7, 2010 at 19:57 #

Sometimes the simplest looks take the most work to pull off correctly.

  28. Victoria September 7, 2010 at 20:04 #

Simply gorgeous, and so very elegant! :D

  29. susan September 7, 2010 at 21:52 #

little makeup and not too done hair AND still looks like a tall drink of water. I hate her. :)

  30. Lee Ann September 7, 2010 at 22:04 #

VB take note-this is what elegance looks like

  31. mochababe73 September 7, 2010 at 22:55 #

I like her in the dress. I’m not wowed. I like the clean, fresh face, but I think that she needed the bold lip.

  32. CreoleLady September 8, 2010 at 02:18 #

I’m trying to figure out if there is a way to recognize these Venice looks. There are at least six or seven looks, including this one, which could easily win BDOTW in any other week. May be best overal red carpet of the year or something.

This week it is going to be just too hard. Of course, this is a great problem to have, no?

  33. KateS September 8, 2010 at 03:22 #

Very elegant, and a great choice on her leggy, athletic body. It shows off her beautiful face and shoulders. BDOTW-worthy.

  34. Alina September 8, 2010 at 06:56 #

I love it! I adore it! She looks flawless!

    BDOTW contender for me!

  35. Ayesha September 8, 2010 at 11:21 #

    SO BEAUTIFUL!!!
i wish she had used the same clutch as the model.

  36. Kaz September 8, 2010 at 11:47 #

Love the frock. I’m all for a natural look, but a subtle swipe of black liquid eyeliner would have put this into the stratosphere for me. As it is, a 9 out of 10 and I think definitely BDOTW worthy.

This week is going to be tough! Great posting FC!

Have you got room in your NY suitcase for me?! :)

    • Fashion Critic September 8, 2010 at 19:37 #

damn it already landed, otherwise I would have tried to sneak you in ;)

  37. cat_not_kitty September 8, 2010 at 17:12 #

    Stunning. Absolute, simple perfection.

Make-up-wise she’s wearing light coverage foundation, concealer, highlighter, eyeliner, eye-shadow, mascara, blush, and lip stain. It’s all there, but it’s been applied with such a deft touch that it serves only to accentuate her beauty, rather than to hide flaws (the latter of which, she appears to have none). Make-up artists will often tell you that it takes more products to create a flawless “natural” look than it does to create smoky-eyed glamour. The trick it to use perfectly chosen colours and a light touch (working with a natural beauty doesn’t hurt either).

  38. Brianne January 5, 2012 at 17:49 #

Blah for me. She needs something with her hair or makeup that commands attention. The gown is beautiful, she is beautiful but together–there’s nothing to focus on. I say thumbs down on this one.
