2010 Venice Film Festival “Norwegian Wood” Premiere – Rinko Kikuchi In Chanel Couture

Rinko Kikuchi also walked the red carpet at the “Norwegian Wood” Premiere during the 2010 Venice Film Festival last night.

She’s no stranger to Chanel Couture, so it wasn’t a surprise to see her wear one of the boldest pieces from their Fall 2010 Couture collection.

The Japanese actress wore a bronze embroidered dress which has been heavily modified from the runway.

The lace sleeves are longer and the lace part of the skirt has been shortened.

Unfortunately these two things take a lot away from the look and I really wish Rinko had worn the original version.

If anyone could’ve pulled it off it was her.

I think this is the first time we’ve seen YSL Trib Two’s on the red carpet at a prestigious European Film Festival.

Sadly they get a thumbs down from me too.

Which do you prefer the runway dress or Rinko’s version?

This is a major disappointment!!! I’ve always thought Rinko is one of the best actresses on the red carpet (I’ve always loved her quirky style), but I don’t like this outfit at all. Moreover, the blonde hair makes her look sick :(

i don’t mind her getting rid of the lace part at the bottom. that just seems so extraneous. however, i would have liked it more if she kept the sleeves as they were

I agree June. I like that she got rid of the lace at the bottome but I think she should have kept the original sleeves.

i agree with dee the skirt lace looked like too much but the sleeves should wave been left i dont like the solid sleeves she replaced them with

      • Carolina September 3, 2010 at 23:50 #

oh are the sleeves not solid? idk

The sleeves and the lace under-skirt were the best bits of the runway version. She should have kept them.

      in total agreement

        Ditto

That is one ugly dress especially from the hips down. Tribs don’t help it either.

Both versions are nice, but agree with FC, the original is more interesting.

My eyes! My eyes! Those shoes are hideous. They don’t go with the dress at all. From the ankles up Rinko looks pretty cute but I agree the runway version was far more dramatic and striking.

I actually quite like the modified version, but blerghhhhh what was she thinking with those shoes?!

I prefer the dress without the lace underskirt, but the long-sleeves don’t work as well as the 3/4, which mimicked the hemline. The shoes are awful. I wish she’d worn the boots the model is wearing or something in gold or brown to compliment the dress.

i like her version of the dress just fine, but i could have done without the dreadful hair and over worn shoes.

  10. Jennesia September 3, 2010 at 17:32 #

I like her version but why would she pair it with such basic heels and that hair!

  11. Jess September 3, 2010 at 19:49 #

I prefer her version, its less fussy

  12. Jones19 September 3, 2010 at 21:30 #

The runway version is way better. Those sleeves she ended up with are horrible…

  13. Marvel September 3, 2010 at 21:43 #

IMO the dress looks horrid on both her and on the runway

  14. lou September 3, 2010 at 23:46 #

Prefer the runway! Rinko’s version looks less couture and more ‘costume’ to me

  15. Kiwi September 4, 2010 at 07:54 #

I only like her hair.. that’s it.. I have grown to hate these shoes.. enough
