The first thing I did before I had my cornflakes this morning was tweet about how excited I was that Drew Barrymore’s “Going The Distance” London Premiere was taking place tonight.
Sam tweeted “I hope she brings it like she did when promoting Grey Gardens!”, so my high expectations were shared.
Unfortunately they weren’t quite delivered.
Drew looks adorably quirky as always, but this two tone hair which is apparently become a trend again is one thing I just can’t get on board with.
I can get over her relaxed red carpet approach which is more TV appearance and photocall worthy. But that’s because her simple draped McQ Alexander McQueen dress was sexed it up with a Balmain belt.
I can even get over those YSL “you again?” Trib Two’s…but not the hair.

Actually I loved her here. There were times that I thought she was trying too hard, but now she feels like she is really comfortable and chic. I must desagree with you FC but I love it
It’s only the hair I dislike
Agree, I loveht colour on her, but that hair is so awful. I have to say I am almost pleased she wore trib twos over Atwoods. I would be more pleased if she had worn neither.
Guess its another London premiere your dissappointed with. This looks like a photocall type of dress.
it’s nice, but it is a photocall dress
My big problem is her make-up! I think her face is too much white and the rest is kind of tan.
i totally agree with you… make is too artifical and it’s horrible…
thank you! i thought the same thing!!
Horrified by the make-up! I don’t think she’s ever looked this bad.
Me too – I hate the make-up more than anything else (love the outfit, the hair might grow on me….)
Seriously. That’s the main offence here.
Wish she’d gone with a more important shoe. More military-sexy, less lady. And her hair looks like she’s attempting white girl dreds. Never a good idea.
Nevermind the hair and the dress, I can’t get past the makeup! Girl looks haggard.
I like the dress – its cute and looks great on her, but maybe it’s a bit understated for this occasion. The hair is a hot mess – ratty extensions and the “two tone effect” just looks like she can’t be bothered visiting the hairdresser. Trendy does not always equate with stylish.
omg i m actually in love with her hair!!!! the two-tone, dip-dyed hair is so cool and refreshing to see … her hair is a cross between alexa chung, lou dillon and my favorite, blogger rumi neely … i have been debating myself on getting just my ends dip dyed blonde because its such a cool and different thing for your hair!!! catherine please reconsider her hair because it looks awesome!
xx
I love the hair! haha.. I know, I know, but it looks so beachy and cute!
Is it just me or does her make up on her face not match the rest of her body? Unfortunate because I think she looks quite good here though FC I agree with you about the hair.
Her face does appear lighter
I like the dress, but it is waaaay too casual for a Red Carpet premiere in London.
The make-up is all wrong. Her hair looks fried. And, that little braid is played out.
Completely agree.. I hate the hair.. also her lipstick is too strong for me.. but that belt really takes up the dress by a couple of notches
OMG! Why did she do this to herself?!
Her make-up is so f&%$£@ up!
She looks so tired..
Yesterday I was looking again to her adorable Marieclaire cover and thinking how beautiful she looked, and now this…
Drew, you broke my heart!
Hate everythig about the look.
The hair (WTF?)
The dress (too casual)
The make-up..Everything.
I like red carpet because of all the glamour, couture and extravaganza.
“Relaxed red carpet approach” doesn’t work for me
I’m a little too underwhelmed to even consider this a photocall dress. She is capable of looking so much better. Aside from the hair, the cakey/ashy looking makeup doesn’t help much either.
Drew Barrymore is one of my favs on the red carpet, especially during Grey Gardens….I’m so disappointed with this look. Wish she could have injected the old-hollywood glam look again.
Oh my god, I can’t stop myself from looking at her hair. I didn’t even read your article, I’m just looking at her hair.
FC, why are her hair that way ?
I wish I knew
The first thing I noticed was the different styling of her eyebrows… a tiny detail but I think it really makes her face look different; they’re much thicker and more prominent than usual!
All said and done, I actually like her casual-chic look… : )
I agree that her hair looks awful, buy I don’t like that style on anyone – even if it’s all one color. Too messy. As for the dress, I love it and think Drew looks just perfect in it, altho0ugh it’s probably not the best choice for the red carpet.
Well, I actually love Drew here!!
What the hell is going on with her eyebrows???
