My best dressed at the 9th Annual InStyle Summer Soiree was Amber Heard.
My girl of the moment channeled her inner ‘Betty Draper’ in a non-cheesy way.
You have to possess a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ to pull of this type of look without looking like an extra from “Mad Men”.
Amber carries this look with aplomb.
The “Zombieland” actress went for a colour-block Dolce & Gabbana dress with a peplum at the waist.
The look is elegant, classic and timeless.
I especially love the hair which helps bring this 60s vibe to life.
Black peep-toes, a black clutch and Miriam Haskell jewels complete this stunning look.
BDOTW contender for me.

Im not a fan of the look as it ages her dramatically. I think my biggest concern is her hair.
I dont like this look at all.
Amber Heard never lets us down. I have loved all her appearances that have been featured on this site. Who’s her stylist?
Taylor Jacobson
Except for her nasty negative attitude on RZP, I always have thought Taylor is an excellent stylist. She did the right thing leaving her boss (I’m not gonna argue whether she did “it” until I hear both sides of the story)
T I M E L E S S! Just perfect.
I love this outfit, but the hair is not working for me……
Dreadful-!
looks like the hoi polloi’s version of elegance. Figures it’s dolce who are known for sexy but not elegance which is what this desperately needs. The shoes are forgettable and the skirt badly proportioned not to mention that she looks 10 years older. If the stylist had any style he would have put the Dior black suede fall 2010 shoes based on RV’s original shoes for Dior from the 50′s. As it is it LV lite. My first thought was ” I didn’t know J crew was doing new look”.
10 points for Miriam Haskell but as a collector I think that he must of chosen the worst pair of her earrings I have ever seen.
Agree about the skirt, it is not flattering, and is creased? The top is nice, the hair and makeup (red lips mostly) are literally giving me a headache. Boring shoes, though they aren’t pumps. A mismatched and try hard outfit. You are being kinda harsh to J crew, they can do better than this!
You’re right J Crew probably could
you are really into Mad Men, aren’t you FC? I recently started watching it and i’ve never loved TV series so much since first season of Gossip Girl!
As for Amber, she really looks lovely. I love retro looks in black and white.
After I watch season I brought seasons 2 and 3 straight away
Im addicted
I love that Taylor is Amber’s stylist. Taylor, for me, had more style than Rachel.
Anyway, I am not sure about the length of the skirt, but other than that, she was okay.
the hair’s… not really working for me. it’s veering into crazy town and the caked on make up is ageing her by at least ten years. when you’re *that* pretty, you don’t need quite so much slap on your face. i appreciate what she’s going for, but betty draper would never leave the house with hair like that
Love this look!
Absolutely stunning!
Classic elegance at it’s best.
LOVE IT!!!
I absolutely agree! ^_^
Don’t like the look at all
