Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: July 2010

Many of you are bored of some stars association with one brand.

Vanessa Paradis and Chanel is one union I will never grow tired of. They are made for each other.

The French actress/singer wears Chanel on yet another cover. This time for Marie Claire’s August 2010 UK edition.

You may recognise her Chanel Pre-Fall 2010 dress since Carey Mulligan wore it on the red carpet to the BAFTAs Nominees Party earlier this year.

Vanessa talks about Johnny Depp, how they have managed to stay together for over 10 years and how the fact being apart helps their relationship, she also goes on to speak about their kids and her and Johnny Depp working together.

Here are some extracts from her interview:

On how she keeps the passion alive when she’s been with the same man [Johnny Depp] for 12 years: “First of all, you have to be lucky enough to find the right person. Next, the fact that we’re not together every day plays a big part in keeping our relationship stable. And then we also have a lot of respect and admiration for each other. We understand that, if we want our relationship to continue, we must give each other space, allow each other to go off on our own, and trust each other.” Read more…

This is going to be a tough one, because I’m not feeling the way any of these stars wore this Givenchy Ottoman stitch stripe jacket.

We first saw the Givenchy Spring 2010 jacket worn by Keri Hilson when she performed the National Anthem before the game between the LA Lakers and the Atlanta Hawks at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia back in March.

She kept the look very simple with a black top, black jeans and a black peep-toes.

Courtney Love arrived at the Groucho Club looking a bit tired following her performance at the Brixton Academy in London back in May.

She wore her jacket with a blue Balenciaga mini dress, Chanel ballet pumps and a tan Birkin.

Liv Tyler also kept the rest of her look all black when attending the “MOCA Opening Reception for Dennis Hopper” in LA last week.

She added an Alexander McQueen fold-over clutch to her look to stop it from being totally boring.

Liv wins for me because Keri’s jeans look too tight and Love is a hot mess.

Olivia Palermo is on a one woman mission to attend every fashion week this year.

She’s currently in Berlin, Germany where the Mercedes Benz Spring 2011 presentations are taking place.

The socialite may not wear Guess to a Guess event, but she did wear Michalsky to the “Michalsky’s Style Nite” this weekend.

As usual it’s all about the accessories when it comes to Olivia.

I wish I had her knack of picking great pieces.

With her Michalsky chiffon polka dot dress she added Chrissie Morris for Michalsky sandals and a cute pink Sondra Roberts rose box clutch which I absolutely adore.

Claire Danes attended the Roma Fiction Fest 2010 Ceremony Awards with her very supportive husband Hugh Dancy.

She not only looked very pretty on the red carpet, but she also won the Best Actress Award for her role in the movie “Temple Grandin”.

I’m loving the new Claire Danes on the red carpet.

She’s not afraid to take risks and has finally shaken off that “safe” tag that’s been following her to every event.

I’m not sure 6 months ago we would’ve seen Claire walking the red carpet wearing this body-conscious Valentino Spring 2010 Couture dress.

It’s daring, sexy and edgy.

Despite saying all that, Claire’s not really selling this dress to me as she lacks attitude.

Had this been Blake Lively I think would be passed out on the floor, as she would’ve worked the hell out of it.

Attitude side I think the thing bothering me the most is that sleeve.

It’s overly fussy, in the way and not really necessary.  Had I been there I may have been tempted to yank it off.

Are you liking this effort or is Claire trying too hard?

You’ll remember a few weeks ago we saw Madonna with a man old enough to be her son strolling through Harlem, New York shooting the ad campaign for Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall 2010 collection.

The campaign shot by Steven Klein follows same theme from the Spring 2010 campaign which also features Madonna.

I’ve gotta admit, I was very surprised at the results from these beautiful black & white pictures.  I much prefer them to the Spring campaign  as the mood isn’t so sombre.

Madonna actually looks amazing – yes I’m aware the pictures are heavily photoshopped – but she does.

The campaign was inspired by the Italian Masterpieces of Cinematography and Madonna’s character is inspired Anna Magnani, who is said to be her icon.

The images reference an imaginary movie, shot in a non specific Italian city describing the beauty and simple family life of an ordinary woman with her different roles as mother, daughter, granddaughter, cousin, and sister.

Madonna is portrayed in scenes such as shopping in a street market with her beloved son – similar to the Magnani character in “Mamma Roma” – enjoying the Sunday family lunch, and when her granny is sewing her skirt seam.

The new fall winter Dolce & Gabbana campaign represents a woman in a more human dimension underlining her natural beauty.

Are you in love with this campaign as much as I am?
