Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: July 2010

The stars of “Gossip Girl” are back in town, as they continue filming the hit series in New York City after a stint in Paris.

Blake Lively was spotted on set yesterday wearing a Diane von Furstenberg batwing silk dress from the Pre-Fall 2010 collection.

I love how this dress was cinched at the waist with a big belt as the baggy dress isn’t very Serena, but the plunge is.

The look was paired with tan Pierre Hardy ankle boots and a large Nancy Gonzalez ombre python tote.

Before Blake’s second scene, filming was delayed because of the rain.

The blonde actress shielded herself under an umbrella wearing a mint tank, denim vest, and printed culottes paired with caged heels.

I prefer the previous look as I’m not fond of that denim vest.

Which do you prefer?

Nice Dress Shame About The Shoes Award
January Jones was one of the presenters at the 2010 ESPY Awards so she didn’t walk the red carpet.

This seemed strange because her co-presenter Zac Efron did.

My worst combination is a white dress with black pumps on the red carpet and in life. It’s a total no no in my book.

At this point I’m really tired about moaning about celebs wearing black pumps on the red carpet, but they just keep wearing them no matter what type of dress they are wearing.

Yes they do work on many occasions, but not here.

January wore a Versace Fall 2010 white dress, which I preferred to Ashley Greene’s.

Her halter dress also had an asymmetrical hemline and a diagonal split but January was able to pull off the look.

It’s more summery and it’s brightens up her complexion.

Best Dressed Award
Emmanuelle Chriqui was my favourite on the red carpet at the 2010 ESPY Awards held in LA last night.

She maybe wearing an LBD in the blazing LA heat, but I love her BCBG Max Azria dress plus she was one of the few on this red carpet who looked like they actually made an effort with their look.

Her mini dress with a leather panel was teamed with Brian Atwood ‘Wagner’ peep-toes and a Jimmy Choo ‘Tube’ clutch.

Most Disappointed Award
I was so excited when I discovered that Ashley Greene would be at the 2010 ESPY Awards, but that excitement turned to disappointment when I saw her on the red carpet.

Despite the fact that she’s wearing one of my favourite labels she looks so very bland. Jennifer Aniston bland.

I love her Versace Fall 2010 red high-neck sleeveless dress, especially the asymmetric hemline and a diagonal slit but she fails to gives us that Versace woman attitude in this dress.

Whether it’s Kirsten Stewart’s “I don’t give a damn” attitude or Jennifer Lopez’ “I’m the sexiest b!tch in the room” attitude you gotta bring it in Versace and for me Ashley fails.

Yes I’m hating her Brian Atwood ‘Harrison’ black pumps with this dress, and wishing she pulled her hair back because of the high neckline, but would that have saved this look? Who knows.

The “Twilight” actress completed her look with a grey glitter Raven Kauffman Couture ‘Muse’ clutch and a studded Padma by Padma Lakshmi cuff.

Refreshing Change Award
Victoria’s Secret model Marisa Miller shocked me when I saw her on the red carpet at the 2010 ESPY Awards.

Why?

Because she’s not wearing the VS uniform – a Herve Leger dress – I guess she’s only obligated to wear those dresses at VS events.

Instead she wore an Alexander Wang draped dress from the Resort 2010 collection.

Her sporty-luxe black satin-jersey dress has a nude mesh cutout racer-back which she shows off to the photographers.

The only thing predictable about Marisa’s look was her Trib Two heels.
