Kate Beckinsale surprised me as she arrived on the red carpet for the Cannes Film Festival premiere of “Biutiful”.

The British actress opted for a Balmain Fall 2010 dress which is very much out of her comfort-zone.

She usually likes the glide down the red carpet like a fairy princess, but on this occasion a black sequin dress with a thigh-high split and a wide gold studded belt was preferred.

The dress is great, but had she pulled her hair back into a tight pony instead of the girlie up do, she would’ve got top marks for me.

Her incredibly heavy pumps also don’t sit too well with me.

I would’ve liked to have seen her come out of herself more with sexy-edginess of this dress.

This could’ve been a wow moment.
