Last night Saks Fifth Avenue held a cocktail reception for the French fashion house Vionnet who’ve had an amazing revival over the past few months.
The event was attended by Anna Wintour, many of New York’s socialites and actress Ginnifer Goodwin.
I’m blown away by Ginnifer.
She looks outstanding wearing at black velvet dress from Vionnet’s Fall 2010 collection.
The velvet makes it luxurious, whilst the cut-outs bring out her sexy side.
Goodwin’s look is completed with a pair of thigh-high ‘faux’ leather boots. If you look closely you can see that they have a small peep-toe.
The first real wow moment of the week, so Ginnifer bags herself a spot on the BDOTW poll.

This look floored me. I cant believe that is Ginnfer Goodwin. This would be my first wow for her also! I so agree this is a BDOTW contender

WOW. amazing! everything from her hair to those great cut-outs to the fabric etcetc.
but.. we cannot say the same for those horrendous boots anna wintour is wearing. really doesn’t go with her outfit..
I’m so sorry….it’s giving me a headache. I just do not like it. She actually looks quite comical :S
Her legs aren’t thin enough for those boots.
Plus there is something fishy about the dress. I am not sure if it’s the hair (the model looks much better because her hair covers the shoulders, making the dress look less like it’s trying to strangle her), if it’s Ginny’s bad posing, if it’s the idea to overwork velvet in this way or the fact the lower cut-out is so much bigger than on the model.
I am not liking this.
The size of the cutouts do seem out of proportion compared to how the dress looks on the model. Overall, it’s an almost there look for me; I really do feel like Ginnifer stands out from more cookie cutter beauties…..

i really love this look from her edgy haircut to those fab peep toe boots, but i dont think she has enough attitiude to pull it off.

WOW. Love Ginnifer’s new approach to fashion she’s really grown on me! And the dress, someone else is really going to have to work hard to beat her for best dressed this week.

Love the dress not the boots . Speaking of boots why is Anna murdering the Prada coat with those awful suede boots-did she just have her veins done or something ? How could she get a look so wrong ? it is her day job.

I love the outfit and she definitely owns it. But more than anything, I love her posture, her confidence.. it DEFINITELY makes the outfit that much better!
