Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Jennifer Aniston walked the red carpet tonight at the Paris premiere of her new movie “The Bounty Hunter” (‘Le chasseur de Primes’).

The actress who’s notorious for wearing black was clearly out to give me a heart-attack tonight because:

1. She’s not wearing black
2. She’s not wearing Valentino and most importantly.
3. She gave us a NEW hairstyle.

Now I shouldn’t be flipping out over these 3 things, but for Jennifer Aniston these 3 things are monumental.

Yes it’s only a ponytail, but for the woman who’s been sporting the same hairstyle for nearly 10 years, a ponytail is BIG news.

With these great big steps I would love to say I love the dress, but I don’t.

I don’t think it’s particularly flattering on Jen.

I much preferred her nude Donna Karan effort to this Christian Lacroix Spring 2009 Couture pink strapless gown.

It kinda looks like an expensive bath towel, also silver heels would have been preferred to her black strappy Manolo Blahnik heels.

Damn it. I really didn’t want to rain on this parade, but that’s my truth.

The effort is hugely appreciated though.

Thanks for all your OMG messages :) Seems like you’re just as stunned as I am.

Christian Dior Doesn’t Do Bold Shoulders Award
Rihanna sported a new ‘do at the 2010 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards yesterday.

We all know that Rihanna is a big fan of Alexander Vauthier and Balmain who both love bold shoulders, but Christian Dior didn’t follow that trend.

Rihanna is clearly still in love with this trend so she improvised by over padding her Christian Dior Spring 2010 chevron print dress.

I loved this dress when Florence Welch wore it to a Brit Awards party earlier this year, but Rihanna really needed to sit down and stop trying so hard.

This look feels so contrived.  Nothing feels natural about it.

It could’ve been so pretty, but I really dislike the badger hair plus her beige Brian Atwood pointy pumps don’t work when paired with the white Christian Dior shimmery ankle socks.

Just when I was starting to appreciate her again, she does a 180 on me.

Most Colourful Award
Keke Palmer’s look was very colourful on the orange carpet at the 2010 Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards.

Whilst Miranda Cosgrove was jumping ahead a season, Keke Palmer went back a few to pick her beautiful Adam Spring 2009 dress.

I love that all these girls are picking young fun pieces for this event.

Keke’s multi coloured dress was one of my favourites from the Spring 2009 season.

Regular readers may remember that Camille Guaty wore this same dress nearly a year ago and it looks as amazing today as it did then.

Thankfully no black or white heels were worn with this look. Instead Keke paired her look with Christian Louboutin ‘Banana’ lavender heels.

Falling Perfectly Award
Miranda Cosgrove opted for an autumn plum colour on the red carpet at the 2010 Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards yesterday.

She wore a Christian Siriano Fall 2010 dress, which is based on the runway version recently presented.

I think her asymmetrical tiered version was the perfect choice for her. The runway version may have been slightly overwhelming for her with that big floppy bow detail.

I can picture someone like Renee Zellweger wearing the runway version.

The teen actress paired her gorgeous dress with Christian Louboutin Numero Prive glitter slingbacks and Neil Lane jewels.

Earlier this week Shaun asked, “Why are celebrities and stylist rotating clothing so quickly as they’re already wearing Fall 2010?”

Although I often question why when we have so many Spring 2010 pieces we’d like to see on the red carpet, I do like to see the odd Fall piece, especially when it’s an exclusive piece like this.

I think it keeps the red carpet interesting, especially as we’re seeing so many repeat looks.

Nice Dress, Shame About Those Bangs Award
Katy Perry walked the orange carpet at the 2010 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards wearing a very familiar corset dress.

The dress was designed by The Blonds who produce these amazing corsets every season.

This season they made it more colourful, and embellishing the rainbow corset with multi-coloured rhinestones.

Katy is a huge fan of their work, having worn one of their corsets to the 2009 Brit Awards.

I love the corset on her and the aqua sparkling Christian Louboutin ‘Lady Lynch Zeppa Strass’ wedges were the perfect complement, but those bangs are shocking.

It’s obviously a cheap weft that has been cut really poorly.

I would’ve been falling over myself in love with this look had it not been for those bangs.

Best Footwear Award
Victoria Justice gave us a huge smile and a red carpet 101 hand-on-the-hip pose on the orange carpet at the 2010 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

I’m not a fan of ankle boots or booties paired with dresses on the red carpet, but Victoria’s Alexander Wang Freja boots have long been on my wish list, so I must not complain too much.

The black leather lace-up open toe boots have a zip fastening which runs along the front of the foot and a stacked heel with a mirror plate on the inside edge.

These are the sexy contemporary urban boots which must find their way into my closet soooon.

The 17 year old actress wore a figure hugging green Catherine Malandrino mini dress with an asymmetrical neckline and a ruched detail going down one side.

I’m definitely loving the heels more than the dress.
