Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: March 2010

Just when I thought I’d picked my BDOTW winner Sarah Jessica Parker makes me go back to the drawing board.

I should know better, as Thursday nights usually bring out the best threads.

At the Warner Brothers presentation at Showest 2010 in Las Vegas yesterday, SJP looked stunning wearing a yellow Lanvin sequin asymmetrical dress from the Spring 2010 collection.

The gorgeous dress has a draped detail which falls off her shoulder.

I love that she didn’t opted for the ‘Hollywood black pump’.

Instead she kept things interesting by wearing a pair of pink suede Charlotte Olympia Dolly canvas pumps with a gold platform.

I wouldn’t think of putting pink and yellow together, but see how beautifully it works.

SJP and Audrey Tautou are the only ones who’ve made me fall in love with a Lanvin Spring 2010 look off the runway.

Nearly every other piece worn has fallen flat – Demi Moore and Michelle Williams spring to mind.

Are you loving this look as much as I am?

This week Missoni held an event to celebrate the opening of their new Beverly Hills boutique.

Eva Mendes carried a gold leather minaudière Ferragamo clutch to complement her Missoni gold and grey knit dress.

A Missoni event wouldn’t be a Missoni event without their brand ambassador Joy Bryant, who after walking the red carpet at nearly every event in 2008 and 2009 has had a very quiet 2010.

She’s lost none of her flair as she looked gorgeous in a gold asymmetrical Missoni maxi dress.

Margherita Missoni wore her family signature zig-zag knit print, whilst Amber Valletta squashed the twins wearing a yellow strapless dress.

Both Joy and Amber opted for stand out clutches. Me thinks Joy doesn’t quite work. The size is bothers me more than the colour.

Nicole Richie was also in attendance wearing a swirling print Missoni print dress. My first thought was that this dress could easily be mistaken for a Pucci dress.

Whilst on my lunch break yesterday I walked past French Connection on Oxford Street in London and saw a dress in the window which immediately made me think of a similar dress from the Givenchy Spring 2010 collection.

It a similar colour, it drapes the same way and they both have embellished shoulders.

The difference of course will be the price.

French Connection sell their version for £110, whilst the Givenchy dress no doubt cost thousands.

Sandra Bullock picked up many Best Actress awards this season, but she didn’t always make the Best Dressed list.

Many people just didn’t get Sandra’s style. Her Bottega Veneta and Alexander McQueen (NAACP) looks were heavily criticized despite the former not being too bad.

I loved the Alexander McQueen dress she wore to the SAG Awards. It was by far her finest moment (imo).
