“Slumdog Millionaire” actress Freida Pinto was the center of attention on the final day of the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai.
The Indian actress has been in Montreal shooting her new movie “Dawn of War”, but she flew in especially for Christopher Kane’s first presentation in India.
Freida wore a pastel yellow Christopher Kane Spring 2010 embroidered dress with sheer nude mesh panels on the skirt which had slightly been modified from the runway.
The runway version has chiffon cap sleeves and a ruffled neckline which are both missing from Freida’s version.
Personally I think Freida’s version loses a lot of it’s allure without those two elements.
I wish she’d worn the dress as presented. With her hair up she would’ve been able to work that ruffled neckline.
Net-A-Porter currently have the long sleeved blue version of this dress on their virtual shelves.

That wasn’t one of my fav dresses from that collection (I prefer the long-sleeved one) and Freida’s version is even worse.
yep….somehow something is amiss in Frieda’s version….
somebody put Chloe Sevigny in this dress so we can all appreciate it again!
co-sign 🙂
Yup. But the runway version, Chloe. Please. 🙂
I love Christopher Kane but the fit of this seems really off on Freida and for this reason the dress to me looks a little bit like a maternity dress.
The curved bits on the top part jutting out on either side makes for a really bad fit. If the top half were tailored to fit closer to her torso she would look amazing in this.
Also I was hoping to see Carey Mulligan in something from this collection…
I don’t like either version of the dress. The front looks like it has a lacy apron on the front.
It’s really interesting to see all the variations of this dress. I like the yellow much more than the long-sleeved blue and agree that the runway version is much prettier than the one Frieda wore. Too bad – she would have been lovely in the original.
The Indian in me loves you so much, FC!
Kisses to you Stuti
xxxoxxx
me too fc.
infact much love from all indians on this bolg.
btw stuti did you know that prabal gulung did his fashion design from nift..delhi and that he’s actually from nepal.
he has many indian celebs on his twitter page and i was wondering how that was possible and then i goggled his bio.
wishing him loads of luck…not that he needs it. he’s brilliant.
Yep, I read that when he dressed the First Lady. Guess we should all join NIFT. 😛
The runway version is soooo much better!
oh lawdy…it looks like she’s got an apron on and she’s about to cook up some aunt bessies…
somethings shouldnt be messed with…freida honey if it aint broke dont fix it…it’s a shame but at least we know what it can look like… the model’s version rocks
LOL @ Aunt Bessies. I love me some Aunt Bessies
The dress still looks interesting to me, but I agree, it would have been fun to see her pull off the runway version. Nevertheless, I’m just glad to see her out and about again.
